So, both the TR and NC soldiers look like they're wearing properly colored uniforms and armor, rather than the ridiculous grey/red and grey/yellow/blue. If this translates into the actual game, I love it for two reasons:

1) It just looks more reasonable and fits the overall militaristic, sci-fi-realistic feel of PlanetSide.

2) If there are different kinds of camo per continent type (desert, snow, jungle etc.), it adds more customization stuff for people to buy off the cash shop, since most will likely want to buy the same stuff in olive drab, khaki, snow camo or whatever. Many will also make some of the warmer climate uniforms lighter, with shorter sleeves, less headgear or what have you.
While spending more money doesn't necessarily seem like a good thing, having more customization stuff, conveniently waiting in the cash shop, means SOE is less likely to eventually cave in and start selling power items.
As much as I believe them now, if PS2 proves unsuccessful in the long run (knock on wood), SOE might find itself at a loss for other ideas for saving the game.

There is, however, a potential downside.
Unless all friendly units are clearly marked on the HUD (not just map pins), having all factions wear camouflage means target acquisition becomes difficult.
Now, I've played Airsoft for a while and I know that most people will just shoot at any silhouette to score a kill, and then worry if they hit a friendly... This might necessitate turning of friendly fire, which none of us want.
On the other hand, the Grief system would let you know instantly when you accidentally sot a friendly, hopefully before you kill them. Also, BFBC2 has got some dense foliage and characters wearing camo, and teamkills aren't much of a problem there.

I like the direction the artwork design is going in...

More Stargate and less StarTrek

This is actually why I don't mind the prominent colors (though the amount that said colors stood out in PS1 was occasionally a little too disparate between factions) in Planetside.

I'm hoping that PS2 strikes a nice balance, in which the cloth retains this subtle and muted tone, and the armor plates and whatnot adopt the faction colors (even if they're more desaturated than PS1's) to readily display faction association. I think that could be a nice mix of gameplay and realism.

It's strange, though, that the NC soldiers don't blend in as well as the TR - quite the opposite, actually, with the blue jeans and shiny blue knee pads etc. They look more like a rag-tag group of insurgents, unlike the proper army men of the mighty TR.

Yeah. I hope that doesn't become the new CR-visibility disparity, actually. In PS1, I always felt more visible in my bright gold armor, compared to the other CR guys in their blacks and greens. The low-CR colors were fine -- the Red, Blue, and Purple were all pretty comparably visible.

I'd like to see the armor on the TR brought up in saturation a little to match the blue on the NC in that shot. I think the NC are probably right around that ideal balance I'd like to see. The blue is bright enough to be seen, without being silly-neon or flourescent, and the gold provides a nice accent without being so dominant as to call a lot of attention to it or change the visibility dynamics of the uniform much.

Como is totally fine with me. Very excited for this. Never thought years ago Planetside 2 would have camo in it. Question is, on different landscapes/biomes. Will Camo make a difference?

I want to shine a bright blood red and charge the frontlines of every traitor's lair whilst raising the Terran Flag high in my left hand and my right carefully fires my custom Repeater of justice to execute the Terren Republic's judgement on every Traitor one at a time.

I like the new look.

It would be cool if the camo was dynamic enough to change based on what you are near. (assuming you purchased the upgrades). So say you were in a snowy region but started to climb a large rocky hill. It would be smart enough to change to something more appropriate if it was available in your suits camo library.

I want to see a max with some camo on it!

I love the new art this seems to have and I don't think cammo will be much of a problem given the fact that the TR have a big red shoot me symbol on their heads. Nor will the NC which has a very nice rebel insurgency look to it. I have a feeling no one will think the VS in our Barny suits are too well cammo'ed. Of course we will probably still get nerfed and they will make us glow in the dark too.

I really hope PS2 doesn't become another brown shooter. Hopefully those are just low level outfits.

It's funny. Everytime they release a new screenshot, the uniforms are just slightly different which either means they keep making little tweeks, or all these different armor styles will be available due to the customization. (or most likely a combination of both)

I've liked them all so far.

Best comment ever! :)

But yea, looks wonderful, as long as you can safley tell the difference between the factions.

T-Ray said "customization" when asked about this, so hawhaw at camo. (more like lame-o)

I suspect that even without colors, the armor shapes will be different and we will be able to tell the difference with experience.

However, I do hope for colors, color highlights or anything similar...

Plus nothing prevents them from adjusting the armors of sniper and cloaker classes to display less color while grunts would be more obvious.

And I'll snipe your dumbass because you'll prolly be running in a straight line :D

I think the regular infantries should be a darker version of what they were in PS1, so that it's harder to see them in the first place, but when you do see them, they're easy to differentiate.

Medics, commanders, or other special soldier types should stand out a tad more, be it a red cross on their helmet or a beret with a microphone.

And I do believe snipers should be given ghillie suits, and should be practically impossible to see, until they take their shot. Once they have shot though, everyone ought to know where they are, and they should be able to take one or two more before being forced to relocate.
I also wouldn't mind if sniper shots showed up as giant red blotches on the minimap, a small trade to be able to sneak up on enemies without them seeing me at all.

And for anyone who turns the brush off, the snipers should become invisible to them, since they'd effectively be wearing brush.

I don't think "turning the brush off" is going to be an option this time. I also don't think brush that vanishes when you are 50 feet from it will be in the game either, however.

The "I'm holding my hands over my eyes, so no one can see meee!" foliage of Planetside was beyond useless. It hid the world from you, but did nothing to hide you from the world.

With armor customization & similar camo-style armor it could present target recognition problems.

BFBC2 for example took a little warming up but eventually you got it down, but if you have a lot of different classes and a lot of different armor variations I can see target recognition being an issue unless faction colors are reasonably prevalent or the armor styling is very, very obvious as to which faction it belongs.

Made a slight clarification, but yes, I agree wholeheartedly.
