IN OTHER WORDS: If sony hadn't ignored planetside, and had maintained it and put developers on it, we'd still be doing new stuff. But they didn't after Core Combat... soooo... here we are!

I thought core combat would be cool, like we would literally be fighting under contineants and then pop out on the other side or something lol.
i think if the game had a good population
we wouldn't mind doing the same thing over and over again, which some of us still do lol
and ya, hackers...

The reason subs declined is because of 1: hackers. 2: lasting appeal (not the fact there was no new content, the game just got old pretty fast for a lot of people) 3: it was entirely too ahead of it's time.. by the time hardware caught up to it, it was completely outdated. 5: not enough advertising. five years after it was designed, no 16 year old new what a planetside was.......
SOE didn't fail at planetside, the world failed at seeing it.
4: Bad Customer Support

Well, how about we take it upon ourselves to go out and inform people?
Heck the drug dealers and other scum are doing it for their profit. Why not go out and get more people interested in the greatest game EVER? If Sony included some free Planetside stickers in the game, it would be a huge leap forward. You know some of those alone would generate new interest.
Standard answer to "I play Planetside": "What's that?"
Not this time around, I say. We are on the verge of a new dawn. Hope Sony thinks to open the blinds.

I find the argument of oh same old fight kinda lame TBH. Look at all the other OLD fps games on some very well populated private server that cycles through the same 5 maps over and over and over. Some of the maps in the cycle are at least as old as planetside as well. Not that it isn't a valid complaint many times but to say that it is a reason "nobody plays" is dumb.
It would almost seem to me that SOE pulled a little passive aggressive temper tantrum over the development of the game.
CC was so bad and got such a negative reaction SOE basically said "fine if thats the way you feel how would you like no development at all then huh?"
If the game had continued with more CC type direction would the game be better than without any development?
All that being said, regular home continent rotations and latice shake-ups would add a ton of life and happiness to thet game.

The bloody PlanetSide website has been bugged for years (tested on multiple browsers, most recently about 6 months ago). Most of the time I would only see some gibberish and no content. It's like they were trying not to have more subscribers. :<

I tested it on many computers and connections a while back. Then I contacted their tech support. It may have gotten lost in their system, not enough tickets were sent to determine that this is a common issue, not a one-time occurrence or SOE didn't care enough about PS1 to fix it after the support guys reported the issue.
Just out of curiosity, what is your approximate geographical location?

Wait is this the same website that doesn't include HSR, Scorpion, Dragon or anniversary pistols? Or the Vulture, Phantasm, GG, Wasp in the vehicles section?
And all links to DL the game or playerstats still exist but haven't worked since the Emmy+Markov merge?
The same one that up-until adding a link to the PS2 site LITERALLY hasn't been looked at by an SOE employee with thoughts of upgrading for at least 5 years?
Seriously though it is that type of apathy and lack of attention to their product that scares me the most about PS2.

That's actually got some truth to it. It seems like in a lot of their MMOs they make vast changes to the game players grew to love. Taking core features out replacing them with something no one asked for.

SOE is the Obama of mmorpg publishers. They ignore what we all want and shove tons of stuff nobody in their right mind would want down our throats.

The only thing wrong with Core Combat was the BFRs. But they aren't anything to complain about anymore. Old Oshur was nice, but it's just another continent. Fight on the other 9 and you get the same experience.

Well it looks like the website problem might be a Europe thing, as I'm from Poland...

The website problem has been around for a few years now, has to do with the browsers language. Since its a multi language website if it can't find an apropriate language it just shows the PHP-code handlers... easy to fix, even mailed it to Raijin at some point iirc but they never bothered with it.
