Is it true that the deployable turrets can only be placed outside? It says this on planetside info's unofficial faq, but I don't think its right. Does anyone know?

GOD, I hope so. Maybe I'm just being a stealth whore, but uber turrets that can detect even slow-moving (or NON-moving) stealthers would piss me off to no end. At least, INDOORS where they're right on top of you when you have a chance to see them.

Turrets can't detect any infantry unless there are sensors around, even then they can't detect them if they are walking. That puts up another good question, does this apply do the deployable turrets or only the base ones?

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to deploy turrets indoors.. atless anyone here can think of a good reason.. Apart from Stealth cause you need sensors on top of teh turrets (not literaly)
prolly are only gonna be outdoors or ele every hallway will have like 10 of them so people get mass raped when they try and hack the building

Good point..
I think in that case there could be a max amount of turrets deployed inside of a base.. but then again.. they could put them all in teh hallway leading to the main room... meh.. I don't know.. I guess that would make more work for the devs.

there could never be tons of them stacked in the hallways... The maximum amount of deployable turrets per facility is only 8

Theres a limit of 8 turrets pr SOI, can be placed annywhere inside the SOI...
And theres a difference between deployed turrets and wall mounted turrets.. I'm pretty sure that deployed turrets are self sufficient i.e they don't need motion tracking or human guidance to fire.
Wall mounted turrets can get a shield and the ability to track and attack vehicles depending on what facilites you own.... not sure if they can still attack infantry when theres motion sensors deployed.... can't remember hearing it having been changed.

This all brings to mind the question: what will a turret's max range be? And will they be effective against snipers at long range, in concealment, or both?

If the turret is not human controlled than I don't think concealement will do much against them (cept maybe stealth), just range.

Ok, quick question... if turrets can only be deployed outside, and there are turrets on the outer walls of the base... what's the point of deployable turrets? I'm betting they can (unfortunately) be deployed both indoors and outdoors.

From what I understand, wall turrets are big, and can be either maned or set on auto. The deployable turrets are small ones, mostly used for covering your back, or to guard a place where the enemy might sneak by. Ex: a forest, or tall grass.

They're probably going to make them outside-only, just to foil my strategy of using them to gaurd a newly-hacked base control console.
