Does anyone know if the hacking system is going to be as in depth as, say Dues Ex? For those of you that havn't played Dues Ex, when you approach a terminal you can do a number of things, like unlocking doors, powering off lights, and powering off/controling turrets. I would looooove to be able to hack a terminal and swich all the turrets in a facility against the controlers of that facility:D I know the turret thing wont happen, its just too un balanced, but what do you guys think about the features of the hacking tool?

I would say Yes and no.

I believe you can hack doors/ turrets /lights etc but you have to do them from the source, eg. hack the door from the door, hack the lights from the generator room etc.

would still be a lotta fun.

I dont think lights can be hacked. Turrets perhaps can be hacked individually?

Not 100% sure on this.

Why did I post? :p

Im sure Hamma just wants to up his count. I wish i had all the time to become a Whore...

Terminals are used to access them like you would in a friendly base. You can also reach your locker by hacking into enemy hackers. The doors and turrents have to be hacked individually. The lights...i really don't know but i think you should be able to hack the generator to turn them off. Vehicles, i belive that they should not change colors, i really dont believe that if i go steal and iraqi tank it will automatically change to a green camo. I think that you should be able to sneek around in the enemies tank and to some info gathering.

Just some thoughts

i'll be whore sooner or late.

if you were able to hack lights it really wouldn't matter. all guns have lights (i think all guns?).

aaaahhhhhhhhhh Deus Ex, the best game of all times..... Oh and yes, that seems to be a great idea, ESPECIALLY the turrets. Then the defender would get some places to defend on, which would be fun, doing everything to preventing the enemy from entering the generator room and hacking the generators.

:stupid:

And sadly the hacking system won't have any depth, it's a big nice fat bar going up or maybe *GASP* down, oh the excitement !!!

Doors can be hacked individually.
Lights can not be hacked.
Turrets can be hacked individually.
Terminals can be hacked individually.
Vehicles can be hacked individually, if you have the vehicle, or equivalent, cert.
Bases can be hacked in whole.

Get the idea? And I am sure on the Lights and Turrets if anyone asks.

Let's say you decide not to hack a turret and blow it up...when will it respawn?

When it is repaired, same as everything else that isn't fully destroyed.

what kiwi said, but you can also hack their weapons and ammo, and no one is sure about lockers.

Omni, I see no reason why Joe Schmoe can't walk over and hack a Harasser, even if he dosen't have the cert. I remember somebody saying something about hacking it so teamates can drive it.

you can hack it, you just can't drive it, same as you can pick up a weapon from an enemy, but you can only use it if you have the correct cert.

So you gain ownership of the vehicle, and tell your friend to take it after you set the driver's seat to all faction members allowed.

It works. :D

Hacker/Combat Engineer. Take the infiltration suit, a knife, a hacking device, melee booster implant, and as many ACEs as you can carry after that (3?). Hack a base control console, deploy spitfires, wait in corner by the door with knife.

That brings up a good point, can you deploy in an enemy SOI? I would lean towards saying no, but I'm curious on your opinions.

NeoTassadar

99.99...% sure yes. They said there was a limit per SOI, but nothing about which side that SOI is.

I've also heard otherwise, that you can only deploy in your sphere of influence. But its just heresay.;)

i like that idea of when u hax a vehicle it should not change colors. u should have a n option of whether or not u want to change colors. but that will never happen :ncrocks: :trsucks: :vssucks:

When you hack a locker in a base it allows you to gain access to your locker.
You can only deploy turrets in a SOI of your empire.

No, us Vanu have always known that. We Vanu can actually deploy turrets anywhere we want, but we choose not to because we have a unfair advantage as it is, being Vanu and all, and dont want to tip that balance even more in our Favor.
