Just like last time, lets get our questions in a nice organized way so hamma can ask them for us.
First thing i do is to get last weeks questions up here again, without those that got answered. Until i have done that (will take a bit guys, im busy :( ), just keep spamming new questions. If you ask something thats already on the list, no worrys, i will just ignore you. :D

* Would like to see some base, tower, and bunker layouts.

* Would like to see a continent map image.

* I think music falls under art, but you might disagree. Is Don Ferrone the composer for PS2 music? (Any answer other than "yes" is considered epic fail.)
SOUND
* Does each weapon and vehicle have its own distinct sounds? It was great in PS1 how you could tell the difference between a gauss, cycler, and pulsar by its sound. Same with HA, tanks, pistols, shotguns, AV, etc.

I'm wondering if they plan on allowing any player generated art content at some point. Ideally we could create our own logos or skins, approve/upload them.
But it could start just with outfit logos. Having a predetermined list like PS1 isn't the way to go. How CoD Black Ops did their Playercards is a good example. It's still a list of items to choose from, but you can modify the color, size, angle, multiple layers, all with hundreds of symbols to use. Occasionally you see the strange gorilla-unicorn sex, but the game is all ready gonna be rated teen I bet, so vulgar things can be expected, but it can also be monitored.

This would be a great thing to sell at the cash shop. Verifying logos takes real people time, so let us pay for it. You could even make it moderately expensive (20 USD +/-), and make a relatively rare Prestige Thing.

That Mosquito (TR only?) looks like a gunship. Does this mean the Reaver is NC, and a "gunship" is an AV/AI-customized fighter?
Will the Magrider even have a secondary gunner? It doesn't look like there's enough room for a small turret on that model.

Yes I too would like to know how common pool Nanite Systems style and empire specific theming interact. Are common pool vehicles the same Nanite Systems style with empire paint jobs or do they inherit the theme of the empire?

I'm interested in hearing/seeing more of bases and structures is PS2
If I recall correctly, it was mentioned that bases are 6~7 hexes in size, what gave me the impression bases are much bigger than in the original PS.

I think Higby's answered this in pieces here and there. Working in graphics programming I could probably give you an answer too, unless you'd rather hear it from the horses mouth ;)

I'm pretty sure this has been answered with a "No". All those visual obscurity features are supposed to be consistent for everyone.
I believe this is part of the reason for departing from DirectX 9. I'm not certain, someone mentioned that in DX9 you could toggle certain visual features on or off at the driver level.
I haven't done any DX9 programming since those classes in... '05? It's been a while.
If I recall correctly, it was mentioned that bases are 6~7 hexes in size, what gave me the impression bases are much bigger than in the original PS.
I took that to mean their "SOI" was 7 hexes, not that the base itself covered 7 hexes. Underground tunnels and such might extend outward quite a bit though, so your interpretation may well be correct.

Pretty sure they were limiting themselves at this time. Were not ready to release that much info on the game at the time. I do agree, some really nice game-play videos that show scale made by SOE should be made for pre-launch/launch time for advertising purposes.

Question: Will certain classes necessarily be wearing one type of armor, or will there be choices? For instance- Do Medics/Engineers always wear Agile armor, or can they choose between Agile or Reinforced Exo?
Question: For infantry weapons, it seems that the Terrans are still focused on volume/overwhelming barrage and the NC are still stopping power. How will the Vanu's "versatility" play out? Examples?
Question: Another stab at the classes (evidently, we got close last time!). Leader, Engineer, Medic, Fast Assault, Heavy Assault (this includes MAX pilot), Infiltrator. Yay/nay?
Question: List some types of Combat Engineering explosives, please!

Higby, can you guys start taking questions from Twitter and a PSU thread simultaneously? The old man in me refuses to join Twitter but I'd like to be able to ask some questions, plus the character limit is no bueno!
My main question is when can we expect to see more in-game footage? After the trailer was released there was an interview where we were told that when the next video gets released we will all be asking why you bothered with the first one, and I seem to remember getting the idea that they would be here sooner rather than later. We are being told that the engine is omgamazing and limitless, that a full day/night cycle has been created, we got a picture of a beautiful ridge that is claimed to be in-game and not pre-rendered, and that the visuals from a battle at night are amazing. I WANT TO SEE THIS IN ACTION! Throw a pre-alpha watermark on it and post a video of a character/vehicle moving around on a polished section of the map, give us an idea of what you are really dealing with. The only way to end art week with a bang would be some samples of more in-game footage showcasing the engine with the environment and these character/vehicle models in action!

The MCG, the JH the Lasher. If these are all still in PS2, seeing images of them would be awesome.
Afterall, HA was a pretty major defining difference between the factions in PS1. Whilst the recent aircraft images have helped I think a few images of HA weapons would really set tht tone!

Jackhammer and MCG have been name dropped. I don't think the lasher has been mentioned, but I bet it will still be in.

No, I mean they dropped the name as in it was mentioned. In the latest webcast Higby mentioned it, and he's mentioned it before. He also mentioned the MCG in a previous interview.

That clearly shows the HUD layout. Not sure if I like how the sides cut off vision on the left and right, every bit of screen helps when in a fire fight and when driving a tank it's going to matter even more. Perhaps adding some transparency option for the HUD would help with this.

If you could expand on that Lartnev question about damaged vehicles....if you've played Halo 2, that's what my mental picture is. A heavily damaged vehicle would have panels missing, carbon scoring, massive dents / holes, etc, etc...

Pretty sure they were limiting themselves at this time. Were not ready to release that much info on the game at the time. I do agree, some really nice game-play videos that show scale made by SOE should be made for pre-launch/launch time for advertising purposes.
I would love to see what the fans can do. Maybe that's something we could talk about. Have a fan created video contest. I think that would be awesome. (during beta)

All of our work is digital now. some concepts are handdrawn on cintique and some use 3d models to paint over. which ever the artist prefers

Im not sure, I know of a couple that learned on the job, so I would have to say 95% have formal training, but then again, I havent taken a poll.

I have model one asset for the game and concepted a couple of things buts that about it. I fill in the blanks when others are busy but thats rare.

i'm proud of the game itself. We did something that had never been done before. We made planetside with a team 1/4 the size of many of todays single player Fps'. We shook up the world and no one can take that away.

UI is an on going effort. it will be the last to finish. It will change the most during beta.

I'm waiting on some VS themed footage to go along with the VS themed track I made. Maybe some night time shots of lashers popping off, and A nice Dyson fly-by.
I can't wait for a video that does PS justice. I hate having to go, "but it's going to be awesome, trust me" when I tell people about it.

Yeah, very few people i know use twitter. I personally cant stand it. Give us somethin we can share via FB or just by giving links out (most everyone uses FB or G+. Videos are best obviously as they work great in "shares", but pics arent too bad either.

Sadly, thats not him to decide. Marketing is pulling the strings here, heck he even had to ask Marketing after i asked him to give us the big version of that indar sunset screenshot.
That being said, it would be wonderul if any of you guys could direct one or two marketing folks here, we have to talk with them. No worrys, we wont hurt them. Yet. ;)
