So this is kinda a 'testing the waters' type deal really, just an idea I was thinking about so I figured I'd try gauge player interest and see if it's worth pursuing to any degree.

I'll start with a little about me, I'm a military enthusiast. I have a really strong interest in everything military related, from equipment to tactics. I play MILSIM Airsoft which is a sport I can only describe as a cross between re-enactment and paintball where players participate in militaristic scenarios to varying degrees of realism and accuracy, it's a passion of mine and I take it very seriously. I also enjoy games like Flashpoint, Arma 2 and Battlefield. I loved the original Planetside, in it's time it was really the only game where you could get any significant scale of virtual combat and manoeuvres & teamwork had a great affect, the only thing to come close to this day is Arma and with the lack of popularity the focus is much more on small unit tactics and so on. Now this may seem quite irrelevant so I'll get to the point and you may see some connection.

I was wondering if players would be interested in a MILSIM Unit in Planetside 2? The exact format would of course depend on how exactly outfits work in game but the general idea would be a MILSIM/Realism Unit, the unit would most likely focus on teamwork matched with aggressive high speed tactics to achieve results. Depending on size and success it may branch out to include air and armor support etc, however primarily would be an infantry unit working in a similar manner to SF teams.

Players would have to be dedicated and willing to commit to a group playing schedule, they would also have to be co-operative and willing to forgo constant action for objectives that take strategic priority, to follow the plans & orders as given to them from the leaders within the outfit and those handed down from the army commanders.

I'd like to hear what you guy think, opinions, constructive criticism etc is welcome.

Thanks,

this is already happening,I sent out e-mails to old PS players a couple of month's ago and got back over 100 replies,
you have to figure in 8 years of running an outfit there have been hundreds of players come and go,if 25% of those ppl look us up in-game it's easily 3 platoons and these guys come pre-vetted so there isn't the "settling in" you would see when you recruited ppl in PS,these are ppl that are used to being yelled at and enjoyed it LOL
we have had more players than that on TS/vent before and it was a blast, everything worked and we (NC)would roll all the events on Markov like that.

this concept is why I am so goddamn focused on crap like the gunner/driver tank issue, hotdropping and if there are going to be any buggies or if the tanks are going to have AA.

teamwork needs to be rewarded so ppl seek out the benefit of playing with a group of like minded players

So do I have to run around with a diagram for my character's injuries, then? ;)

Great useful input, why is that?

Ah I see, well that's good to hear though I didn't understand exactly, you had a MILSIM type outfit in PS1 and emailed old members to see if they want to join again? Sounds good though. I also received some responses via PM. :groovy:

Yeah, and you have to obey the Geneva convention too heh. No mass graves. :p
