Planetside has a lot of devoted fans of the original and i know many are excited for planetside 2 to come out.
Me and a few friends are looking into providing a lot of coverage for the game via videos and such and would like to ask a few questions before we devote time and venture into.......this venture.
We plan on holding discussions for new information, patch updates for when beta drops(depending on the NDA if their is one, and if there is their will be a lot of backup videos when it drops :) ), Weekly content such as epic fails and strats, Comparisons to the original ect
What kind of content would you like to see?
Would you watch such Content?
Would you like community discussions, brining in a few people from the community to join us(obviously sharing opposite views to discuss)?
Things of that nature, all feedback is appreciated

Fail and Hero of the week.
People submit fails and epic hero moments such as tanking a tank shell to the face to save the medic.
Screenshot of the week. Ranging from funny, cool, and beautiful.
Of course content discussing and feedback. Maybe even have polls and announce the results on next video.
Player mail being answered, like 1-3 per video. Assuming its video and have a channel and all like on youtube.
Cant wait to see this, hope you guys go through and continue with it!

Battle reports; either written or in a news reporter style video with the reporter embedded in the platoon.

We are in the pre-planning stage right now, so we are trying to gauge should be go through with it. The idea is a youtube channel dedicated to it, there are 3 of us atm and possibly a 4th.
Two of us are Vets of the original, while the other two are new to planetside(ones even a girl *gasp*)

i love this idea, brings to mind this

If you do battle reports as the players in game recording yourselves talking and stuff, the question is............which faction are you gona be??? Of course with 3-4 you each could be from all 3 factions which would be kinda cool :D

We will all be starting as elmos , however we may vary it up a little for some videos or rather a select few of us(prob half) could change it up. Initially we will work all together for the sake of getting things off the ground and getting the flow down considering we all have different strengths when it comes to doing this venture.
Its prob fair to say that the Vets(me being one) will stick with TR, cause we have all that faction pride from the orginal

All on one particular server I imagine? It could be cool to cover the same battles from multiple angles, though you'd probably want to delay broadcast so you're not giving away Critical Intel.

Being one of those who are very "i dont like faction hoping " i would agree on that. This may be one of those things where we would require help from the community on and send in footage.
It also depends on the server set up, i dont recall hearing anything on how it will be handled or how many etc. But we are all East Coast so will be sticking with that server.
If it is just one big USA server we most likely will cover resources and how each faction did for the week and things of that nature.
Keep the feedback flowing, im liking a lot of these and they are getting the juices flowing in the grey thing above my shoulders.

Didn't they say you could only play on empire per server?

**goes look it up*
you would be correct, so on that front we would need help from others on such a thing. However you could make another account if its F2P, but since i will of course wish to play the game i most likely wont do that.

I don't see why you couldn't do things from a strictly TR perspective in the reporting bits. Alternatively, you could take which ever side holds a named base where you reportedly report from. For fan submitted content (hero/failure of the week) probably want to take video from all sides.

Catch the Cheater of the Week.
That would be really popular.

Oh hell yes. It'd also teach people what to look for, and to learn when they've simply been Pwned.
SOE might even have some kind of observer account thing for this very reason. A "press pass" account that can do the flying camera thing, attach to players and see what they're seeing, and so forth.

I'm not very good with recording videos. I would love to have you guys along, embedded within my forces for media coverage of our operations. Does this sound like something you would be interested in? This way, you could get audio coverage of our voices as we bark out orders, attack, die or make a big ticket kill.

I cant speak for the group atm as i havnt had a chance to discuss with them on this, but i would say we are looking to take a more "war correspondent" view to our vids. Rather then a kind of "boss fight " video. If that makes any sense.

Just a minor update in general
There will be 4 of us, so no question on that anymore.
We are looking to start around a month from now(cause like i said we are in the pre planning stage, name of the group/channel, what kind of content, delegating work of who does what, how often of certain content etc and obviously some of these will be worked out when we actually start so dont hold to me a exact month  )
Starting Content will most likely be discussion oriented since there be no beta.
for beta we will not be restricting ourselves(the group) to a faction as to cover multiple things
Things are of course subject to change except the 4 people and beta coverage

If the facial expressions changed and the lips moved during voice macros, it would be more entertaining.

RvB? What is that?
Oh, and I also want a "Click" (with Adam Sandler) ability to mute voice macros, so I can read them but they don't clutter my audio tracks with speech.
Fun to watch people's mouth move, and nothing coming out.

*update*
We have a name it is "Broadside" , reason we chose it was it has a news feel to it somewhat like crossfire and has a strong navy/ship reference to it also.
just made the youtube page (of course its blank) so next is getting it to look nice and then content.
