Well, you've got light, for jump-packers, and the one with additional leg and arm armor could be the middle armor.
Since Heavy Assault will only be usable by the Assault Class, ReXO (an eXO-suit) might be the prerequisite. The additional strength and rigidity coming from powered armor may rationalize limiting the heavy, hard-kicking MCG/Jackhammer to only the heaviest non-MAX class.
So I doubt that it's just a heavily-customized version of what we have seen so far.
The concept art looks rad. It would be really cool to have a book or something of all the concept art for PS2.

hrm well I think we have only seen 2 armours right?
previously i thought the heavily plated armour we have seen would have been the new TR heavy armour, just gone for a more "realistic" sort of take on heavy armour, but after seeing this new one, it would makes this old stuff look like agile armour, and the original TR armour look like standard.
This new armour looks like it is full plate, there is no cloth or spandex showing like the current rexos.
the jetpack pack armour looks kinda like the standard armour, cant really tell from the rear though.
I'll be really upset if that's the armor I have to wear to use heavy assault, because it looks like Global Agenda's alpha heavy armor - aka trash.
Oh well, it's not like I'll ever see myself at least...

EDIT: My first thought was more art, but classes and personal customization makes more sense. I doubt we will see much about the weapons yet.

Picture on the right looks like it has a semi-Optimus-Primes-ish guy just left of center with a white chest and possibly a Transformers logo in the middle of it.

If HA requires heavy armor like that... it reminds me of Heavy Infantry. People would need a more muscular initial avatar character to carry it. Which would lead to more lethality in physical stuff, such as knife usage.

This glare in his right eye needs to be more centric.. if not more level. his eyes don't move with the gas mask lense.. it's static... no matter what direction or dimension.
Actually, the glare will be at an angle, relative to straight forward from the viewer to the thing reflecting the glare, that is in line with where the glare light is coming from.
In those lenses, since they are curved, the glare being right at the viewer means that whatever program he is using is assuming the light source is coming from the viewer's direction.
To have the glare as beady dots that always point straight forward? Then it looks like black eyes with tiny white pupils, staring, zombie-like, forward.
If they render it accurately in PS, then any reflections off the lenses should show bright spots, namely one or however many suns the planet has, as being reflected accurately so that the glare spot wouldn't be at the viewer, unless the viewer was standing triumphantly over the fallen TR, almost directly in line with the sun, casting a shadow on him, but not on his goggles.

We haven't seen much of the NC and even less of the VS, but the TR infantry are shaping up to be badass. I like their designs a lot more than the PS1 TR.
VS were about the only infantry armor I really loved from PS1 though. So far, what little we have seen of the NC armor hasn't impressed me too much, but it hasn't turned me off either. Between the NC MAX concept art and the NC ES vehicles (damn it, give me back my reaver), I could definitely see myself rolling an NC alt on another server regardless of how their armor looks.
TR on the other hand, I may have to role an alt just for the armor. The agile I could take or leave, but I'm loving the rexo.
Still though, VS for life! Nothing's gonna make me abandon my empire, short of mandatory pink tutus and nerf powered laser guns.

I've liked all of the new TR armor up until this concept art monstrosity. This is the one thing that will make me glad they removed third person!

BTW, it's not white and red. It's gunmetal gray with tons of glare in a high-brightness-image with red.

But yea, I'm jealous most of the TR stuff has been amazingly right down my alley, I might switch to TR, I love how everything has that rounded, clean, "stormtrooper"/"imperial" feel to it. Feels so right, I love it, can't wait to see the NC and Vanu stuffs too!

Maybe it's a different max armor variant? Looks bulkier than the one they already showed. Can't imagine rexo is heavier duty than a max.

I thought it was about customization because the pattern on top of the helmet seems kind of custom.

Shoulder pads aren't big enough. As we've seen, if you're not rockin' 80s-style shoulder pads, you aren't a MAX.

Anyway, you can't see it but as you may remember, NC has the big friggin' kindergarten blocks on their shoulders. I do like how each of their epic shoulder pads still maintain the empire's "shape" (big square/rectangle for NC, big sphere for the TR, and big spiky triangles for the VS).

Anticipation whets the appetite.
"Whet" means "sharpen" not "satisfy".
It also doesn't mean "wet." A whetstone is for putting a very fine point or edge on something. It does not mean that oil, water, or some other liquid is supposed to wet it before use. It is also a mathematical operation used to check computer CPU processing capability. Some clever guy came up with another operation known as "dhrystones" also.
You just can't make this stuff up.
From Wikipedia:
The Dhrystone benchmark contains no floating point operations, thus the name is a pun on the then-popular Whetstone benchmark for floating point operations. The output from the benchmark is the number of Dhrystones per second (the number of iterations of the main code loop per second).
Fingers crossed that that's not required to use heavy assault or it can be customized to look halfways decent.

I expected Rexo from Planetside 1 that looks cool, not some global agenda armor copy cat that looks lame. If I wanted to look like a max I'd use maxes.
And the color scheme sucks. I like red / black, not red/greyishwhite.

It isn't Red/Grey/White. It's red and grey with white shine and highlights because the drawing up there is very washed out and over-bright.
Take a look. All the white is highlight and sheen. White would just be a five-mile target marker sans pareil.

It looks like a proper piece of powered armor, capable of wielding Heavy Assault weaponry. The concept art helmet looks stupid tall from the eyes up, though.
Assuming that the 3D model is derived from the concept art, and looks nothing like it, I think we can feel safe.
It could also mean the the MAX units are nothing like their concepts. :<
It is fitting, I'll give it that.

It's weird how different the rendered model looks from the concept art, which looks more akin to a skull in my eyes, though I can barely tell since the brightness was cranked up to 11, bleaching just about everything though I guess this is where the customization comes in. They don't just build the base model and voila, it's alternates poof into a file somewhere, as convenient as that would be.
Could also be the early workings of taking the light armor helmet and building on that.
I too thought the fore-arm/upper-leg variants with the full mask were rexo with a more realistic feel. Guess those are just for customization. Probably more protection for less mobility even, but nothing compared to actually going Heavy assault in power armor I imagine.
I for one hope they can take a beating. They can't really heal themselves save for medpacks most likely, but I want them to be something to fear as a medic or engineer or jump troopers with an assault rifle. I see one of these guys aiming towards me, I should be thinking Spartan/Elite or even Terminator, only not nearly so impervious to small arms fire
Hell, maybe they grant them regenerative shielding? What do we know? Maybe we'll find out next week! :groovy:

I think you got enough Vanu when they posted the picture of developers and their team preferences: 26 of 52 devs played Vanu. That's exactly half. I only saw 3-4 TR devs.

I like the concept power armour, gives me faith we might be playing Planetside 2, not a BF/COD MMO. thats the vibe that I have been getting from all the regular armour we have seen in past screen shots and gameplay, with how they have gone for that more realistic plate armor look.

I wouldn't mind some more Crysis nanosuit action. We've already got cloaking and speed boost in the first game. Some super strength and high jumps could be fun. I know we already have jump packs for the latter, but the jumping could be much smaller of a vertical distance than the jump packs can offer. Combine uber jumping with a jump pack for maximum height clearance. :D
I imagine if they make HA be class specific, that a lack of strength enhancement will be the limiting factor.
If I can pick people up by the throat all will be forgiven.

I don't think so. When we were building Warhammer Online, we asked the GW representative and they really didn't care - the way it was explained was this: Games Workshop has an incredibly high standard. Blizzard's product did not meet that standard. Yes, it's a cash cow. But when it was demonstrated to GW, it was a sub-standard, ugly cow.

Very hard to prove in court. Generally speaking, the Terran Republic heavy armor concept we've seen could probably be more attributed to the Helghast (still Sony, I know, but bear with me,) however it's arguably different enough that it's not copyright, even if you took a hose from the... I guess snout of the TR gasmask and wrapped around the back, it would still be a TR helmet. Even easier to call it original and stand alone when you have the rest of the armor to see it with, which gives me the impression of Half-Life's hazard suit (just by what we can see in the image.)
I used to compare the Master Chief to the DOOM marine myself. You can see in PS1 the inspirations in some of the helmet designs (TR motorcyclist, Vanu bicyclist, NC riot.) For their part, I don't think they were exactly trying to copy the Stormtrooper pilot helmet, the concept art looks more like a skull to me, with the orange goggles feeling straight out of Killzone's Helghast.
For the sake of reputation however, it's best if people don't immediately relate the design to something else upon seeing it, especially in mass towards a single object (you've failed then.) Gas masks and goggles are kind of dead in the water in this way though. MANY "bad guys" in video games and movies wear gas masks. It's iconic for bad things in general.
For the most part, no one will give a crap unless it's an all-too obvious rip off.
Don't get me wrong though, the TR are the good guys in PS2, oh yes! The NC are terrorists. I can at least count on the VS to work with the TR if it means saving civilian lives.
