I believe VTOLs have wheels IRL as well. Probably so that they can land when they're out of/low on fuel. VTOL lifting is costly after all.

Probably just customized to have those extra pads. That or that's another classes armor, but I'm leaning towards the former. Might improve shielding but lower mobility to add on extra pads, who knows? Either way, the agile they showed us was the base model we've been seeing in screen shots. What surprised me most was that there are standard vests in game. I thought they wanted to take those out for the sake of speeding up game play?

I don't think so. They confirmed on Twitter today that there is no 2-seat variant of the fighters. I think what you are seeing is the front dash and the seat, not 2 seats.

If you want a multi-seat gunship, that's what the Lib is now instead of a bomber.

Because that's how it's designed.

Possible, but I don't think the fighters would be that different from each other, especially when the devs said they are all pretty much the same size. Then when you factor in that the Lib is going to be a 3-person gunship and not a bomber, then that makes your scenario even less likely I think.

Some of the named gear is Quite Interesting.

The powered exoskeleton has (as several folks have pointed out) 3 or 4 boxes of ammo for a Heavy Cycler. The armor looks AMAZING. Dead Sexay.

We get to see that the "pajamas" have the red V, which is what we see a medic (and some other poor slob) wearing in one of the PSU-Exclusive TR shots.

(note: That they're showing ammo on the belt leads me to believe that they'll be showing weapons as well, but it's not implemented yet)

The Mosquito is armed with a "TR - M12 Gatling Cannon". A very TR-ish weapon if ever there was one. It also has a pair of "TR-AM8 (or B?) Missile Launchers". It also looks like two of its four hard points are left empty.


PS: I really want to see a TR "missile flock" weapon. Maybe all 12 of these missiles can be launched at once at a single target. That'd scratch my itch.

Observations:

Opening screen has nighttime areas with what look like street lights. This means night is actually black, not just pale purple.

There is at least one moon, and it's a big one.

And there are clouds of something out in space? I wonder if that stuff could cause solar-wind storms that screw up displays, HUD's and electronics in general.

On the back of the heavy assault model , mid shoulder area , I noticed what looks like a weapon or ammo holster?
Comparing it to the max pictures of the tr (from older screenis), who had 2 circular ammo dispensers on his back and equipped with 2 lazer pointed dual-cyclers (one on each arm)
Would it imply that heavy armour worked along the same modelling ie a single heavy cycler on one arm with extra ammo box on your back ,you other arm free to use a pistol /knife or even a rek etc?

edit: maybe the mcg is a high level cert tree unlock (like all existing HA weapons from ps 1) and hence why we prob wont see this baby for a while , and why they dont have any pictures to show us of aforementioned MCG

The Cycler: Remember, the dual-cycler max had what, to me, looked like twin MCG barrel-sets on the arms.

Could it be the new name for the MCG is the "heavy cycler"? Same as the old MAX's name for the same or similar weapon.

I know the Cycler was an MA weapon. But the cyclers on the dual-cycler max looked nothing like the cycler MA weapon. They look like modified triple-barrel MCG's.

BTW, the Heavy Cycler magazines are substantially bigger than the Cycler magazines.

Movement augmentation. In order to not be as slow as a heavily-laden soldier would be packing lots of armor AND the Heavy Cycler, the Heavy Assault armor needs to be powered.

Note how the "Lesser Assault" guys in the screenshots all have Cyclers, but the Heavy Assault guy only has his pistol?

They sure don't want to show the Heavy Cycler or MCG, whichever. Funny. :D

BTW, the Heavy Cycler uses different magazines than the Cycler.

And, also, that blocky ugly MAX on the cover of PC Gamer UK looks so NC, and not much like the ultra-cool artwork we saw for the three Empire MAX's earlier.

My vote goes to the artwork we saw earlier. The one on the PC Gamer cover with those rotating bangles on his wrists just looks wrong. Too blocky, weapons too huge, just wrong.

I think it's already been said that personal shield will be part of standard body protection in PS2 and this video just shows that it's not an implant anymore. I sort of like the idea even though it may be ugly-looking. It is the future after all.... :P

I think that the Personal Shields will replace the little blue armor bar, in the sense that we won't be sitting there repairing or getting our armored repaired, it will be regenerating by itself.

Those various pieces of armor are probably going to more directly translate into our health bars.

Like infiltrators having 75 health, pajamas having 100, light assault having 150, heavy assault having 200.

You could even do a MAX the same way. Just give it 500 health and an extra powerful shield generator that only a MAX can use. I still think it would be more awesome to make MAX armor be like vehicles and require a vehicle repair tool to fix them. It would allow them to have even more survivability while being balanced with the fact that it will take a very specialized support character to heal them. An engi wouldn't always be around like in PS1 and if there was a dedicated engi healing a bunch of MAXes, the engi would be a prime target for snipers and cloakers.

Have you not seen that Chinese or Japanese prototype technology? It was on Tv. A suit that allows you to relive the movement of a previous wearer. It works to suggestively move your arm, and so you do to relive someone's 'movement memory'. Since Heavy Asault is he confirmed class that will carry AV weapons, this would fit my theory that a Heavy Assault character can carry either:
a) a Heavy Assault weapon (MCG, Lasher, Jackhammer, flamer?) only, or
b) an AV launcher and a rifle/shotgun, or
c) perhaps a PS2 Special Assault weapon equivalent and a rifle/shotgun.

I'm assuming that all classes get to carry a pistol, of course.

We know for a fact that PS2 will have personal shields. Some will recharge faster while others will have a higher maximum capacity. Shields. Get used to the idea.

It also means you don't need an engineer to keep your squad healthy.

I must disagree. I took those thingies on the back of the MAXes to be cooling vents for their various power supplies. This heavier powered armor needs one too, though not as large. It makes perfect sense that it should be similar to their MAX's, only scaled down.

And there's no reason to have 3-4 big clips of ammo for a rifle on your belt when you've got this huge belt fed beast on one arm with an equally huge drum of ammo on your back.



There is one thing that bugs me about the powered armor though: The boots and knees are totally disconnected from the torso. Seems to me that the whole point of powered armor is to help you carry a larger load, but it's up to the wearer's thighs and knees to take the whole load plus the armor itself?

All the little gaps bug me too. You can see the "pajamas" underneath in various places. Folks have been building armor that can cover such things to various degrees for centuries NOW. C'mon.

Light Assault looks a bit underwhelming. Heavy Assault is fantastic though - too bad the gas mask doesn't look as good as in the concept art.

One thing I don't like (at all) though is the TR uniform (the clothing). The grey/white stripe pattern reminds me of old prison suits from the 1930s or so. Should be reconsidered!

I believe the company is called Raytheon. On top of that the Pentagon is also putting funds into myomer nanofibers which are basically the artificial muscle fibers the suits use to get their power. Decreasing their size would increase the density and improve the suits power.

At the moment I think Raytheons suit allows you to lift a 90kg mass with no effort. The idea is that with this suit on troops can carry bigger guns/more armor or get less fatigued over time. On top of that the Navy is also researching railgun and laser technology, although I think the railgun got some major budget cuts.
