Hey all, I'm new to the PS scene and I had a quick question (please don't flame me if this topic has already been covered :) ). Just curious as to whether infantry will be able to zip line from the air transports or not. Thanks. :D

Nope, but they can just hop out of their air vehicle and land on the roof without dying...so...kinda.

no don't believe there is a zip line. Aircraft has to land or you can jump out. Kinetic dampeners slow you down a bit making the fall damage you less.

The most comprable thing to a zip line is kenetic dampeners, if you jump out high enough they slow your fall at the very end and absorb some of the damage.

So, you would be able to jump from a reasonable altitude without taking damage? Also, am I correct in assuming that this is possible while the transport is in motion? Thanks again. :D

You'll take damage but depending on how "reasonable" the height you're jumping from is will affect how much damage you take.

1. you take less damage, you still take some damage
2. yes, this can be done while it's moving

You can def bail while moving. The thread seems to be against me, but i thought the KDs took all damage unless you jumped from too low? Damn it i really gotta reread the info section. They gone and changed things on me.

This is set in the future, only dumb poeple like us would use ziplines to get outa aircrafts. Kinetic dampners sound kool. I just wana know what they will look like becuase they seem to be invisble from all the pics i've seen.

They're built into your suit so you don't see them.

nah, the interview said they take all damage unless you drop from a certain height, too high for yer femurs but too low for the KDs to kick in. Also, don't expect flames on this forum, they rarely show up. That s*** is for the OFs.

how high can you actually fly? or has this been disscussed? i mean videogames have to have a boundry of somesort. so how "high" can you get in this game?? :D
wish i could figure out this damn sig thing!!

Pretty high actually, high enough that you shouldn't worry.

Ok everyone, I should jump in here and detail -exactly- how I've read kinetic dampeners work....
They work -exactly- like parachutes. If you jump out of a Galaxy too LOW to the ground, you -will- get hurt, because the dampener/chute won't have time to activate. There is the possibility that you can -die- from jumping too low.
If you jump above a certain altitude though, your dampeners will kick in, and you will land safely (and quite possibly unharmed, with -no- chance of getting even the tiniest bit brused... from what I've read).

Moleculor - you seem to have hit the nail on the head... from what i have read thats pretty much exactly as the developers describe it...
too low and say ouch.... too high and say "nice view, i think i will have a sandwich"
one thing, i presume you can take fire damage while falling? as if you were on the ground?
Jumping at great height over an enemy base and dropping on them is one sure way to wake the b****rs up

Yes, you can safely assume that you are not invincible while falling. And I don't know how damage reduction got started, but from all I've read, it's damage negation when you fall and kinetic dampeners kick in.

and possibly jet packs

JETPACKS ARE EVIL AND IF THIS GAME EVER HAS THEM IN SUCH A COMMON FORM SIMILAR TO TRIBES, I WILL NEVER PLAY IT!!!!!!!!!
*cough*
Anywho, yeah... there's no damage 'reduction' in this game. It's all about the negation baby, yeah baby, yeah....

ummm dude, only the vanu max has jet packs, and they are more of jump packs, not jet packs....

i understand the ceiling on the game will be high enough that planes wont have to worry to much of ground unit but they wont really be able to scout from that height either.

It would be pretty weird in the beta when the ceiling height isn't fixed to see HARTs spawning below you
