View Full Version : Unbending
Just a promo idea for ps2 , reset ps1 back to 2003 , make it free to play ,br20 limit and everything at its incarnation.
Slap ps2 on every bill board and term in the game.
Have a big frag fest for 6 months while ps2 is imminent ,then as ps2 draws near, have the pre-bending meteorites , in game events and so on, then the server explodes and you left with a vid of time , auraxis and everything being sucked through the wormhole and coming out the other side in a re-imagined world ...and ps2 is launched .

Complete with the software bugs, lack of base repairs, lack of bases actually meaning anything outside of their layouts? Best not. The idea of using PS to advertise for PS2 could work but any time you put into setting PS up for this will probably detract from time spent on PS2. A reserves style system prior to launch could work however then we'd have to worry about hackers running about leaving a bad taste in people's mouths so you'd have to have constant CSR activity and for the price of the CSRs you probably could run TV ads.

I'd rather they spent their time working and focusing on making PS2 greater than great, than peel off a portion of the development team that would be required to make a major overhaul of PS1 that you described.
Let it go the way of your name sake

Yeah, we don't want new people getting the PS1 cheater experience. It will put them off and have ill will towards SOE. Which in turn could make them not want to play PS2, even if it is F2P.

PlanetSide2 is not a story sequel. It's a serpate and re-envisioned story of the game world. PlanetSide1 means almost nothing to PlanetSide2 except for faction copyrights :P.
Frankly, the Bending was a big mistake in PS1 anyway. Don't want any more incomprehensible crap like that in PS2. :P

This. Though breaking everything up into worlds made the game live a little more up to its namesake, it was ultimately just annoying and made for a cluttered "world" map. I think SOE can stick with just one world and it's multiple continents, then implement starside intercept as a means of Planetside living up to it's namesake.
They could also introduce new worlds with a new take on the base gameplay. Zombies/aliens NPC's on another world for example, with objectives based on a sort of capture the flag style play. A bunch of (PS1-like) modules, 3 empires, and a world with a lot of abandoned settlements overrun by xenomorphs and/or dead-but-still-walking colonists - Probably because of the modules.
P.S. PS1 proved most people will stick with the main attraction, while "caverns" turn into a ghost town.

If we have multiple planets to work on, I mean one main planet, and its moons, I want to be able to use gigantic deployable telescope installations to observe the activities on the moons from the planet's surface.
How about spy satellites? Maybe the OS/Nuclear Sparrow will be deployable from the moon to the surface.
