I don't know much about ATVs, so I don't know if the different treads on the front wheels is standard fare, or ATVs will have customizable wheels and they're just testing them out graphically like that?

cant say i know that much about ATV's but...

with anything rear wheel drive, larger back tyres mean more grip, something you want in the mud and dirt. front typres in the dirt typically you will want a wide tyre for increased traction, this will effect the quality of your turning too wide though and it will have a negative effect. But as I mentioned without a diff turning is a pain anyway unless you want to get up on 2 wheels to take a corner...though this would typically be used in the dirt so the inside wheel would just spin up some dirt...but this is a game and things like this probably wont matter....unless better wheels and a diff is unlockable....

with the tread i doubt its AWD so the rear wheel tread is going horizontal probably for better takeoff, and i would guess the front wheels the tread is going the other way so it tracks better when turning.

Rear wheels on models with the lateral tread sipes are for propulsion, front wheels for steering.

If it is all wheel drive, then the sipes would have more reason to be similar on both sets of wheels.

This indicates that the ATV's in PS will be RWD.

Tractors are a more extreme example of tire tread directionality, since the front wheels aren't use even for braking, so their action is entirely lateral.

I was rather hoping for something a bit more high tech. Speederbikes or that one image that got linked here a while ago of the atv mini fire truck thing.

That is really detailed.

I guess this is the High Poly model to get a Normalmap from. Means it wont be really that detailed in game, but looks really detailed (yay normals!). ;)
Yet, the guy who spend the last weeks in ZBrush getting all that detail worked out really deservs a medal. Looks freaking fantastic! :)

I'd take it one step further, I would like to drive to work in that, in that scenery, with artillery raining down around me, every day. I wonder if that would ever get boring(although I may die from the stress before it does).

I hope cloakers get hoverboards, as I stated in another thread. Clean jets for TR, smokey engine for NC, magrider-type whatever for the VS. And colored in wild patterns and crazy colors, since they will almost always be cloaked anyway.

Looks good. Not very futuristic looking, but then neither were the PS1 ATVs. However, if it handles well, is fast, and can either be cloaked or fire rockets of doom I'll be happy with it.

Some of my best PS memories are on Furies. We'd do Overlords clan nights where we'd all cert ATV and just travel around in big packs hunting enemy tanks. We'd buzz around them in circles, darting in and out whacking them with rockets and they'd never be able to get away unless it was a Magrider making a run for water.

Never liked the Basilisk though.
