@Hezzy88 courtyard shields. they can be taken down individually as bases & CYs are captured in stages. Looking forward 2 the thread on this!
So how do you think this will work?
I wonder if its like the current base gates where infantry can enter through the field but vehicles cant.
Or that they will have to storm each bastion inorder to bring down the CYs shields.

I would imagine different aspects of the base (Shields, Defense turrets, general power supply etc) are powered/controlled by Nodes or generators. These "Nodes" (For simplicity's sake) must be captured or destroyed by the attacking force in order to render them inoperable. Yes I would guess base shielding prevents vehicles and indirect fire from entering the base and infantry units must first eliminate the corresponding node to disable them. I don't think "Gen dropping" as WE know it will return and for that I am glad. I like the concept of Dropping gen's but it undercuts gameplay. It's so easy to Hotdrop or Max Crash a Gen room and essentially steamroll an entire base. I believe this is something our team is working to mitigate.

I anticipate these will be used to protect forces in the courtyard from artillery and aerial bombardment, allowing the CY to act as a more effective safe haven for staging operations. Interesting to note that the guard towers at the corners of the wall do not appear to have shield protection. Perhaps the shield will stop at the wall ramparts, allowing troops to use firing slits there as well?

My guess is they'll split up the base into segments, each somewhat self contained, and each with a perk to controlling it. Base fighting may be more like an onslaught map where you have to control points of the map to make a counter tick down.

And here I'd thought it'd just be that every catwalk has a shield running off of it. Seems that they have anti-air and arty shields. Very cool. Though I'm wondering if the catwalk shields and the anti-air shields will be run off of different power sources stored inside the walls.
There are catwalk shields as 3 are visible in this shot:

I am LOVING the art style of PS2. Unique and original.
