I'm sure some of us remember when core of combat first came out and you used to get massive battles that took place in the 6 caverns, but over time they turned into 1 person trying to capture a base and then 1 other guy killing him like now. The only way you got a battle was a squad, platoon or a outfit to try and take a whole cavern and then attract overs from the same faction to you.

I think if they find a way to keep it interesting and always part of the war it would be a good idea to put it into Planetside 2. Add a bit more mystery too it maybe.

Higby has cited no Caverns at this time but "not to rule it out"

I for one LOVED everything about the Caverns and Hope we don't allow Core Combats mediocre reception as an expansion pack to soil our opinions on caverns as a hole. Caverns have serious potential and would look even more beautiful in the new Forelight Engine.

T-Ray....wouldn't you like a crack at something like this?

These Caverns exist deep within Mexico and are tremendously Hot. The air is 136 degrees Fahrenheit and from what I understand not the safest to breathe. Scientists exploring the cave can only do so in half hour stent's lest they risk passing out and dying. To our knowledge this is the only location of it's kind on Earth.

The Vanu and Conglomerate have to be getting their exotic minerals for all their experimental weapons from somewhere. We already know Mining played a major factor in the colonization of Auraxis; it would be silly not to support this lore in the game itself.

I know what you are thinking: Adding Caverns would require lots of additional work and probably constitute some kind of expansion. You would have to release other additions to the game as well in some sort of "package"

You think People would laugh at releasing ANOTHER Core Combat Expansion? Didn't they laugh at the Original Planetside? Surely someone laughed when the idea of a dedicated sequel was brought up. Who's laughing now? Who will be laughing come launch day when Planetside 2 becomes a house hold name synonymous with ACTION and regaled for its beauty?

Core Combat was a GREAT expansion and you shouldn't let anyone tell you otherwise.

You speak the truth! Some of my best memories in Planetside were the early cavern fights.

I would hope that if they do caverns, they are integrated into the continents. Don't just use warpgates to get there. Have holes/caves in the ground on the continents that lead to them.

The NC have sort of lived 'underground', so having cities in these underground areas I think would makes sense in the context of the lore.

The caverns in PS1 weren't very good. It was hardly urban combat. Also, please no ziplines. Those things were awfully confusing, even for a person who played the game for many years. The only reason to go to the caverns after the first few months was for bfr imprints and mods. Not real exciting stuff.

Basically, redo the entire cavern system if they add it.

The worst thing about core combat was that it let MAXs jump.

I know lots of people didn't like the caves because they couldn't find their way around. Personally I never had that problem and I loved Annwn's design. The vertical sniper fights always ended with some nutty stuff. Would have loved to see more of that. My one regret is that I never got into a big fight in those tiny troop tunnels that led from the geo warps into the main cavern. Those cramped conditions with just a few more twists and junctions would have been awesome! Would love to see tiny things like that again in the style of a mining base but with air vents you need to crouch walk through and multiple levels of tunnels that run into each other. Do want. In the dark! (after the mini-gens go offline)

I would like to see more conventional caverns this time. Massive mine shafts and underground power stations and the like. Indoor focused combat that's easier to wrap your head around.

The crystal caves with the ziplines I think should be saved for if they add a more alien planet to the game where it fits better.

Caves wont make sense, first of all, when The Bending happened it split all the continents on the planet Auraxis into seperate planets. Every planet has a geowarp to a cavern. Each cavern has 4 different Geo-Warp exits which all lead to different planets.

A new Cavern would be need to be created for every single planet. And I'm not sure if during The Bending and the separation of Auraxis, the caverns were kept underground under the continent or were blown apart and kept seperate.

Last thing is if it was kept underground for every continent then obviously they are far enough underground that people would not bother to make a tunnel directly to it for quicker access so it would only be easier to use geo-warps.

My idea is that every continent will have 1 capital and 2 sub capitals, one for each faction if the battle is big enough. Each holding a teleportation pad that would lead to a base if owned. Also if the same 6 Caverns remain for all continents to share, the teleport pad could allow you to teleport to multiple caverns from the one pad.

The Bending never happened. PS2's story is back to square one. One planet, several continents.

Actually the official storyline will probably be someone saw how much BFR's and all of that Bending stuff sucked. So they sent a time traveler back into the past to undo all of it.
