I recently moved to Williston, ND with my wife. She had a job in less than 24 hrs. And I only have to wait for background checks to finish before I start working for 60k+ a year.

The downside? We are living in our 2010 Jetta...

Any of you thinking about cashing in on the new boomtowns yourself?

 Man those boomtowns are crazy. Seen quite a few shows about them.

Yeah, our first goal is to save up enough to buy a travel trailer or something, and get a PO BOX since Wal-Mart doesn't take mail for the people who live in the parking lot.

 This is pretty cool stuff, I need no boomtown though. The union hall is empty and its November. Not common. Got work into the next 2 or 3 years. Good news economy wise though, when construction goes up so does the economy.

Yeah, I was working when we moved, but being a cab driver in Vegas right now... hardly worth spending 12 hrs a day on it.

Vegas to North Dakota just in time for winter.

You best be finding some permanent lodging sooner than later. Gets very cold up there. (January avg. is like 8 degrees)

It's already about that cold, the low for today is about 7 degrees.

Be careful. Many boomtowns fall through. Not trying to be Mr. Negative Asshole but it is what it is. I'm sure they have some sort of cheap motel you can rent weekly for very little money.

It wouldn't be a real boomtown if there was any place to stay that was cheap :p

It went all the way down to 0 degrees F, but we were nice and warm in the car.
