The guy is going to get executed anyway, and there's really not much information they can extract from him that they don't already know.

When you break basic human rights, you drop to the level of the terrorists.

Torture is wrong period, anyone who thinks it's right should get some mental help. Even if it is to get information.

Well I guess some of you are right about the pliars and blowtorch.....
But I am sure they have other tricks up their sleeves. Maybe a week without sleep and constant light, only broccoli to eat, an air tight room, and then:
Pump him up with truth drugs and maybe a few acid gel caps, and go from there........... Have an Osama lookalike come in or something. Remember the beginning of the movie Mission Impossible?

Smart thing to do would be:
Lie and say we exacute him, and then hold him somewhere and torture him with any means we can tell we get what we want or we run out of butter.

I favor Chinese water torture.
Revolution

Chineese Water Torture is a must in the Un-Holy Bible of Torture!
Worse enough you have to stand that.....Drip........Drip........Drip.......
That alone makes me flip out. But now add that to the Drips on yer head....
Drip/tap........Drip/tap.........Drip/tap.......
But if that is considered torture, by no means painful just annoying till you could not stand it, then it seems there would be more school shootings, web sites crashings/hackings, people going postal, road rage, depression, suicide(my 2nd favorite), mass murder killing spree's(favorite), neighbors beating the shit outta neighbors, Richard Simmons dead, Sony Corp HQ bombed for taking to fucking long,
You know, stuff like that. So if it does not hurt like your dick being cut off with a blow torch, or your nuts in a vice, or your funny muscle in your foot going off in sheer pain for a minute cuz you moved it wrong(maybe I am the only one that has that happen) is it really classified as torture?

Commententation on this topic is debasing and utterly pathetic. Revolution, are you all there? Justice is always to be upheld prior to any act of seeking that Justice. In other words, you can't break justice to get justice.
Quite disturbing.

Conf, I am comming to Your House For Dinner!!!! I'll Bring the Steak and 'Finger Food"
party:
P.S. what is Sigbot exactly?
What is the sigbot? Why was my signature removed?
The sigbot is a vicious little program that the staff here is quite fond of. On randomly scheduled increments the sigbot tours the site and removes all signature pictures that are over the requirements. You have 3 chances in 30 days before Hamma seeks unholy retribution.
The requirements for a signature picture are:
Must be under 400x300 and under 40k in size. Remember, less is more.
Bye bye sig! :D

The main problem with torture, besides ethics. is that it doesn't work. That is right. No Workie.
I can get someone to say anything I want if I torture them long enough. If this was an inquisition then that would be fine. But when you are trying to stop more terrorism then getting incorrect information just isn't going to do anything constructive. And could very well set you back.
In other words, tearing someones teeth out while yelling "IS IT SAFE." Will get every answer possible. "Yes, it's safe! No, it isn't safe! Just stop the pain!!
Example? In Vietnam all they wanted was for the service men to admit that they were bombing schools and targetting civilians. If they did that, the torture will stop. They will be set free. So people did just that. Some held out, but many broke.
No, what you do is mental. You break them down, you don't let them sleep. You let them drink only water. You give them only rice to eat. You have them stand for days at a time. You put them in a room with nothing to sleep on by the cold floor, and you have bright lights on constantly so they lose track of time. This way they are living, and for the most part healthy (that fat bastard will lose some weight.) They just aren't confortable. You let them stew in this for a while then you give them chances to get out. "Tell us who is helping you and we will give you a bed." Ect. You do this for WEEKS!
Tired, hungry, and miserable he will, sooner or later, tell you what you want to know.
Oh, for the record, there is no real truth drug. The CIA researched that for years (and came up with LSD I think.)
Sodium Pentithol (sp?) is close but all it does is make him more suggestive. That way you can make him believe that he is back home talking to his mom. But getting the information out of him is still hard. You have to figure out what cercumstances it will take for him to spill the right info.
I just read an article about this.
Plus a close friend went to the POW camp in the Air Force. That crap is screwed up.

I will condone mental torture, because it is only to get information, not cause them pain or damage them.
Justice isn't always right, unjust things sometimes happen so that lives may be preserved. I will condone phisical torture only in the most dire circumstances, such as to prevent another 9-11ish attack. In such cases, things must be done, dispite the laws.
My basic phislosophy in dealing with such circumstances is: "Follow the rules when you can, but ignore them when neccisary."
When you break basic human rights, you drop to the level of the terrorists.
I cant believe I have to agree with ABRAXASS (sorry for the spelling error but I'm too lazy to check).
right is right
wrong is wrong
circumstance doesnt change that
point of view however....does.
