Was wondering about this. Thought for a moment the planetside dev's where a little queer or something. Go to know they can still make good looking virtual pussy.

Looks good but this niggling thought in my brain tells me that she puts on makeup and those eyebrows are a bit too well kept for a combat zone. But I guess when you're planning to die 50 times today you have to make sure to take joy in the little things.

Interesting. I was beginning to think it was just going to be the guys out there fighting this time around. Then again, we are just seeing the face so it could be a ladyboy. Is there a bit of a 5 o'clock shadow and adams apple there?

This one of the coolest things about the PlanetSide series (hehe, I can call it a series now:P). The only other shooters I can think of that allow you to play a female model are Global Agenda and Quake I-III.
Also, PlanetSide was probably the only shooter with female voices for player characters. I can't think of any other online game with shooting and females screaming stuff like "Warning sniiiper!". ;)
I think there's some good publicity to be made off this fact.

Lighter-armored models will likely show the face, at least partially. Also, customization. Think Spees Muhreen MAX units without headgear. ;)

One question that came to me with this: Will there be a list of faces to select from like in PS1? or will there be a customisation feature?

Here's hoping for customization (more monies to make for SOE through the cas shop), but my money is on a list of maybe a dozen face meshes and a list maybe a dozen textures. Plus maybe eye color separately since eyes are separate meshes.

I think they confirmed that there won't be deep character customization for the game. So possibly we'll have faces to select from again.

True, but there's always hope - Forgelight is supposed to be an engine for MMOs like EverQuest Next, after all.
Also, in my earlier post I meant that you will likely be able to customize your gear to reveal more of your face, or your entire head.

The less information, that doesn't have something to do with my 150mm and it smacking into your face selection, being shoved down the server's throat the better.

I'm sure a lot of men will be playing as ladies, in some sort of attempt to get people to shoot at them less or something.
I have no moral reservations against shooting at a woman if she's armed and an enemy.

I suspect it would have more to do with thinking they'll be smaller targets. They weren't then, and I expect they won't be now.

People aren't that competitive in a game like Planetside. People wouldn't be playing Planetside if that were the case. I suspect it has more to do with the fact that if your going to be looking at your screen for hours on end, it's nicer to see a hot scifi soldier chick over a big, sweaty man who reminds you way too much of the guy from your gay nightmares. :p
Disclaimer: Nothing against homosexuals, but there happen to be a lot of insecure men in the world who are scared they might be the next gay man to come out.

You are most likely the only one on this forum that has gay nightmares about big sweaty guys. Just saying.

Well if they have listened to us at all there wont be a third person view for Infantry this time. Thus making the good old " I would rather stare at a chicks ass" argument a moot point.

There are a few factors that will influence my decision of playing as a woman or not:
1) Boob size. Big boobs? YEAH! Small boobs? Eh....
2) Bikinis and other cute outfits available in the store
3) Will my female character moan in pleasure after a glorious kill streak?
4) Pig tails
5) BIG BOOBS
6) Can I see my cleavage if I look down? Like you can see your legs in BF3?
7) Will there be women-exclusive islands where we can have our hot characters participate in various sexy activities? Maybe not at launch obviously but in a future update?
8) Will my big boobs deflect bullets back at their owners?

It sounds like some people are fixated on breasts, which is terrible.
You should be fixated on their sexy ass and hips, thats where the real action is!
Anyway, I usually play females in RPGs now because they make more interesting characters but in FPSes I don't really care as much (its less about the character).
So I might be inside a man in Planetside 2, and Im not even purple (All though its my favourite colour but I prefer TR... am I confused?).

In this Massively.com interview (http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/09/30/coloring-inside-the-lines-an-interview-with-planetside-2s-tram/) it was stated that both male and female avatars would be 6'2" so their hitboxes will probably be the same.
And yeah I know, if you wanna get picky men generally have wider shoulders, but then women usually have wider hips and (hopefully) bigger boobies so it all evens out (just say NO to man-boobs!)......
just say NO to man-boobs!

I'm trusting in SOE's ability to make an engine this time around. Forgelight seems promising...
In PS1 I knew a lot of people who would pick a female avatar as opposed to a male one because you could supposedly warp better on a female character. There were plenty of warptards who'd play as female characters so I don't doubt it.
Essentially, I hope there's no advantage between picking genders other than having boobs to look at. Same size hitboxes, same silhouette more or less, etc.

Yea if there are advantages or disadvantages to one model over another then the developers failed their job. I don't think that will happen though.

They don't have to really have advantages for people to claim they do. If that "female models warp better" rumor from above really existed.
I guess people believe anything if they want to
I only ever heard the smaller hitbox excuse, and found that alredy quite laughable

I only ever heard the smaller hitbox excuse, and found that alredy quite laughableI think the two rumors were probably just different versions of each other. I actually had people ask me why I didn't use a female avatar for the smaller hitbox, so people really were thick enough to buy into that.

Probably just an excuse to dress up like a girl.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
