Congratulations VS, you finally got some info, if only a small bit.
Also, while the writing isn't perfect, I love stories like this. The dead beat who followed his dream only to have to sustain himself with minimum wage jobs because no one took that field of study seriously is found by a super famous and respected man to be taken on a journey to the other side of the universe. If they made a movie, I'd watch it, even if they used this guy to write the script.

First, will reserve this spot for my review after reading.
Boo not cool!
Anyway, seems to be proofread this time, muchas gracias for that. Interesting, definitely giving me the impression they are skipping the regular 2-week cycle and starting VS week already.

I dunno why the guy needed to commit suicide for hearing voices in his head. In the words of a famous comedian (I can't remember who right now), where the hell else are you supposed to hear them? Your ears are IN your head, of course you hear voices in your head. It's the ones in your knees or feet that should really bother you.
So I'm guessing he commited suicide because he because the usual religious fanatic and a cult leader. *cough*VS*cough*

I'm guessing this was the first test of the rebirthing tech, and our man was the one who discovered it. Just my theory.

Something is not adding up and in my mind, there is only one conclusion: it was just a test.
Once he shall rise up again from the cold of void and share the word.
Once heathens, then true believers of the wisdom of Vanu !
Unyielding faith to Vanu, forever shall bring you forth, in this never ending path towards ascendancy !
Edit: CViolet's post proves that we are not alone believing in the true colors.
Edit2: btw Gray, there is no stopping your post now. It's like it too will rebirth in every re-quoted post in a never ending chain reaction true to Vanu design. Are you sure you do not want to join us yet ? Your soul aspires to it !

On the other hand though, maybe not. There's this from original VS story:
We’ve analyzed their artifacts. And ever since what happened to Briggs we’ve gotten sporadic telepathic feedback. Vanu and his people were real.

Briggs is probably one with the Vanu now, the true link between them and the rest of humanity.
In essence, Briggs has become...
More powerful than we can possibly imagine.
Spectres leading you to senile old frog people on some God forsaken backwater swamp world don't come off as very powerful though.

I'm sure there was a very reasonable explanation for why he killed himself. Maybe he saw the schematics for the new Scythe and couldn't stand the awesomeness.
There is nothing to be alarmed about. Vanu-Aid has been certified by the food and drug administration as perfectly safe for consumption by adults, children and family pets. It is fortified with vitamin C and is recommended as part of a balanced breakfast.

There are some grammatical errors towards the beginning of the new revision. I liked some parts of the other draft better, but I'm glad Wolfman read up on the Kuiper Belt/Pluto and fixed some of the classification errors in the original draft.

I liked the story and thought it was good. I didn't see any grammatical errors that were not there for style.

Good story over all, would have liked some details on the figurine but I guess we can't have everything.

Wow, now that there is some awesome writing, I love it, I was entirely enraptured the whole time :D
Also Higby, will we be getting an awesome narration of the history of Auraxis with the release?
Great stuff. I also thought rebirthing when I read it. I just can't wait for the Auraxis brodown ... NC 4 life.

It may have to do with the rebirthing tech.
On the other hand though, maybe not. There's this from original VS story:
If he discovered rebirthing, he woulda popped up somewhere else after killing himself. Maybe the fact that he didn't become reborn is due to his own deliberate death.
So I'm still leaning towards the technoreligious nutjob explanation. Suits a cult leader to commit suicide for reasons that are only apparent to his followers.

Henry Briggs - H. Briggs - H. br iggs - H.iggs br - Higby
Coincidence? I think not.
The story of a man who chases his dream and ends up in the enviable position of being at the tip of the spear of a major breakthough. They even work dogs into the story, much like his beloved pet Qui. It's all about the subtext people.
Perhaps Smed would be like Connery. A president who uses his position of power to revisit something special (Planetside) and use better tools the 2nd time around (i.e. Forgelight) to change the (gaming) world as we know.
A bit of a stretch, you say? Is it? Is it?
So... Higby would be... The prophet of VS ???
You're right, it all makes sense, his insults and mockeries to Vanu are only a test of our faith!
Really loved the story by the way, it's getting better and better! Bravo!

Could be that the rebirthing tech wasn't as ready as he thought
Also, it was never stated anywhere what exactly happened to him (before his suicide), or that he didn't respawn

These back stories are getting rather boring now if you ask me . What we all wan't to know is? when is the Beta coming or when can we expect it and how far into the development are you . are you keeping the character chants etc . The JH : will the triple shot be returning ? that was one of the biggest mistakes of planetside when you nerfed the triple shot . Do you remember a website called www.planetsideststats.net ? this was and awesome website for tracking daily stats etc which you failed miserably to support and the person who set up this awesome website had to finish it because of the lack of support he got from you guys . I would like to see a similar website where there will be daily leader-boards where players can check there kills and xp aswell as outfit xp . best outfit of the day etc , and what will you be doing to prevent another cyssorside on a daily basis , because if you had not of noticed from the original game , that's why a lot of people stopped playing

Please don't assume you speak for everyone when you when you in fact are speaking of yourself when you post this stuff. In fact, quite a lot of us do enjoy these stories as has been clearly stated in multiple threads.
As for your other stuff. The devs have already confirmed that there will be numerous and indepth stat tracking methods and hooks so as to reach as many mediums as possible as well as to track players usage of weapons, vehicles and actions so they can have a clear picture of how best to persue the future of Planetside2, and that there will be a whole new way to play PS2 in the form of capturing land, resources, and territory rather than just hopping from base to base. It's a whole new dynamic in fact. They have also stated that they will be telling us when the beta is coming so a little patience will go a long way. In regards to info on the JH, it has already been confirmed it is returning, and as no other info has been released on other Empires weapons..... well learn to wait.
Also out right blaming higs and his team for not supporting your favorite stat tracker and blaming them for past actions of a previous dev team seems a bit....idiotic eh? What with the whole fact they were not in charge of PS1 and what not.

The woman called again a month later. He had just been fired from his latest job and was desperate. He agreed to meet her. He was about to hang up when she asked, “Are you willing to travel?” He nodded yes. She continued. “Not for just an hour or two. A minimum of two years. Possibly three.”

Yeah, no. They are video phones:
"On February 18, 2631, Henry received a call from a woman looking for a dog walker. The vid-screen showed the scowling face of an older woman dressed in a very formal business suit."

I nominate Marsman.
Yes! I think a female voice actor would be better though, an airy one.
I personally think they should hire an actual editor/story writer and have a full time posting of new articles like this, I love sci-fi stories and really thinks that Planetside is lacking a story like this- TOR and other games even like BF3 have a backstory, usually through singleplayer... but it's still there ya know?
Although the writing kinda sucked for this last story, it seems like a cool story none the less and could definitely see it portrayed as a movie possibility.

I think they should launch sci-fi books based in this universe. I played MechWarrior because I wanted to experience what I was reading in the Battletech series.
