I think planetside 2 is going to be too big to be ready for next year , i think year after next planetside 2 will be ready . The team developing ps2 are doing an awesome job on this new game and i would think they would wan't a polished game rather than a rushed one , then again i may be wrong and we might get it next year but if the game was going to ready for 2012 then surely we would see some in-game footage

Congratz on not understanding game development and video creation at all.
They are much further ahead than you think. The reason why they dont just spam us with information is pretty simple: It makes no point. Creating a proper video takes time, and they obviosuly dont have that time as they are busy making the game. They already spam screenshots at us (trust me, they do, this is freaking lot more than you usually see in this phase of development), but vids take, as said, time. On top of that, what to show? The big selling point of Planetside 2 are the big battles, and those cant be shown right now because there are simply not enough players to record such big battles.
Oh, and: why show stuff anyway? Wait for beta and see yourself.
and about release: Who gives a damn?

Yeah, the amount of stuff they ARE showing proves how far along they are.
The non-art department devs aren't just sitting on their hands waiting for the VS Heavy Assault armor to be finished. They use temporary models and play around with the numbers and stuff. The entire game gets developed concurrently.
We aren't getting show enough to make a prediction on when the game will be released, but it is clearly pretty far along in development. The team must be working like wildfire to get as much done as fast as they have. I can only imagine how far along they will be in the next couple months.
Nobody should worry too much about the marketing of this game yet either. Just imagine if they weren't giving us a look at all of these screen shots. We would just have to wait for several more months with little to no information. Then as beta rolled around, they would ramp up their marketing.
They have nothing to market yet. The stuff they are showing us is the closest to marketing they can do right now. The game isn't done and it also needs tons of players to properly show what the game is about, so the real marketing comes later.

We also are a part of the marketing. As they release screenshots on twitters and facebooks and we like and retweet them, we market the game to all of our friends :)

I think a big reason why we haven't seen a lot of video clips yet is that they've only recently started work on the motion capture for the game. T-Ray told me on twitter that the animations we saw in the trailer were only place holder work. I have a feeling that we will probably start getting gameplay vids in the next couple of weeks after they hammer out the way characters move.

I hope we get the beta sooner rather than later , but i would be happy to wait for a game that is polished rather than rushed , i mean look at battlefield 3 for example , the game is based on teamwork and when you join a random squad it can be hard to communicate with squad members because there is no in-game VOIP and a lot of players tend to play every man for himself than work as a team . I think bf3 was rushed and it is in need of some major updates , how ever if they spent a bit more time a dressing some of the bugs and took a bit more time getting some of the probems sorted before launch i think it would have been a much better game than what it is , but the game is still awesome none the less

Well I look around on these boards and I find more than enough people willing to contribute in a gameplay video... Oh boy, if only it happend!!!

This.
OP just wants to spread false information and has no idea what he is talking about.

It probably would be a good idea to change the name of the thread to avoid misinformation.
