Hehe but seriously its almost jarring this time around how much more high tech the Vanu looks compared to the NC. Vanu looks like some Japanese Anime Gundam pilot. And the NC guys look like they are getting ready to play Paintball.

To date, all the non-HA armors were the Standard uniform/armor with various amounts of extra chest and limb armor. This one is completely different, though.

My theory is that, while NC and TR need their bulky, powered armor to haul around their relatively primitive, heavy MCGs and Jackhammers, the Lasher and other VS HA weapons are made out of lightweight materials and don't require any powered armor to carry and use.

That, or the VS "ReXO" features some crazy-ass artificial muscles for the "powered" (the leg armor looks thicker, which could prove this), along with efficient, lightweight, intelligently hardening/energy-dissipating materials for the "armor". ;) I'm kind of thinking WH40k Craftworld Eldar mesh armor, as far as the latter part goes.

The VS amours i imagine would be smaller, but they will still want to be of a similar comparable size as the other factions equivalent armour for identification purposes by the other faction, they cant have all VS light - heavy as a similar silhouette.

god dam that armour looks like sex though, i love the carbon fibre type look and the rubber spandex, the purple shine and the scaled pattern on the shoulders. That hex pattern allover the armour looks pretty pimp too. the chest symbol seems kinda odd though.

The chest is the only thing I have a problem with too, I'm mainly looking at the VS symbol... In an honest opinion of mine, the symbol needs to be proportionate to the one on his shoulder, currently it just looks weird.

I think the PS1 VS ReXO was slightly less bulky than the NC and TR ones, so I'm going to stick to my theory for now. ;)

Also, consider the MAX concept art, and how the VS MAX looks totally slim compared to its NC and TR counterparts. Hell, huge pauldrons aside, the VS MAX is of comparable bulk to the TR Heavy Assault! ;) Of course we're comparing concepts to actual assets here, but you get my point.

Also, T-Ray tweeted that we'll get another screenie next week, but with the recent blast of updates, that doesn't come as a surprise. :) I don't know if it's all them, or if everything from lunch pics to hi-res screens is all quietly orchestrated by SOE's PR guys, but I don't care. These guys are teh best. :)

I suspect that VS armour (and the TR w/ extra plating you mentioned) is probably of the Light variety, but maybe customized to provide a little more protection than stock. We've already seen at least 4 types of TR armour (3 light/standard armour types in this pic (http://www.planetside-universe.com/media/viewer.php?img_id=1677), and a Heavy in this one (http://www.planetside-universe.com/media/viewer.php?img_id=1679)), so no doubt there will be similar configs for the VS and I'm sure there will be one that shows beefier protection than what this guy's wearing.

Yeah, the TR Heavy Assault armour looks pretty hardcore and screams, "I'm a badass, don't fuck with me!" ... But this VS armour... DAY-AMMM! "Orgasmic" is really the only word for it! It's really the first model I've seen where I'm like, "GIMMEGIMMEGIMME!!!!!"

I agree the chest symbol could probably be tweaked a bit to make it look more like the one on the shoulder pad. Otherwise though, pretty f'ing fantastic job!

I gotta say TRay, you guys have been bringin' it with just about everything you've shown us so far and you've really made each Empire come to life with their own unique feel that fits really well with their respective pasts/philosophies, etc.

Love it. I'd bet all the glowy bits are our shield generators. We really need to see the helmets now. The original fishhead design was awesome. Can't wait to see what they do with it.

As for the chest logo, I think it works fine. In the real military, logos will often be simplified and exaggerated in order to read better from a distance.
