Since people in the past month have asked when the new site design is coming, I think the staff should have a clearer picture of what new features loyal readers would like to see.
Now there's only so much that can be done, since the hosting of and tidbits for PSU is monstrous, but there's no reason that such features can't be added on a periodical basis. The question is, what do you want?!

Better mobile support. I'm a neurotic forumite, even on the move I'm on the forums with my phone, but PSU is extremely heavy for mobile use. I don't need a mobile version of the whole site, but somehow the forums should at least be quite a bit lighter to be nice to use it over mobile networks for longer perioids.

For mobile forum use we have TapaTalk (http://www.tapatalk.com/) enabled. It does the job without us having to install a bunch of themes in vBulletin (which can be quite a pain) The new site is a bit more mobile friendly.
For those interested, here is what our design focus is for the main PSU site.
More focused on community, any detailed information will be directed to the Wiki (http://www.planetside-universe.com/wiki). For example information about vehicles game systems etc will all live there.
The front page will be a portal for the community, news, forums, chat all the focus. We will be removing all extraneous information from the main page. It's very similar to alot of other portals out there.
Some of the features we intend to keep on the main site.
Outfit Database
POTD
QuoteDB
Poll (maybe)
Media
RSS Feeds
Syndication
This list is in flux and may change, there are probably items I am missing as well but this is the basic overview of our plans.

TapaTalk enabled now? Weird that my phone doesn't ask me whether I wanna use it, on all other TapaTalk-enabled forums it does.

Strange - it is enabled I was browsing from it earlier. :D

Only reason I could come up with could be that recently I've only browsed it through WLAN. It isn't heavy per-se, but it just loads so much for mobile use that anything less than WLAN it isn't really convenient. Perhaps my browser is trying to be smart enough and deciding that if im on WLAN, i can handle the real deal :D
I will try tomorrow without WLAN and see if that helps.

Well, I've offered before to design all the cosmetic stuff for the site, because that's all done in Photoshop instead of the general colour-scheme work performed in vBulletin...
One of the things I was thinking of was maybe some headers for faction-specific articles, in addition to one for reports from SOE that apply to the general production pipeline of the game.

The new site has been designed and we(I) are(am) in the process of converting the old site to new.

1. Easier access to the VIP Tracker. I'd like to see posts from Higby, TRay, even other lower ranking employees' posts laid out like the PSU Headlines are on the front page. You could also have another part tracking their official posts on some "Official Forums" of course, if they make um. But it would always be nice to easily see what they're doing just in this community.
2. Better forum topic organization. With so many new people and topics coming into PSU, the Planetside 2 Discussion section is going to blow up even further. I suggest adding sections like Vehicle Discussion, Concept Ideas, Strategies, User Created Art/Lore, I could go on. Now we don't need 20 sections, nor do I think we really need any more right now. But I bet we do by the time beta starts.
I also hope the faction specific skin choice is back and even better

The faction specific skin probably won't make it in the initial release.

I would like to see:
Quicker access to the picture upload section,
A bigger quote for uploading pictures,
Better colours and images for read/unread posts,
And 45 cans of Fosters :)

Nah, my thought was more if there was a report from the TR it would have a header to accentuate it, and then if there was another article involving the NC or VS, they would have their own header. This is so that if people wanted to see only faction-specific news they could; however, dev reports from the SOE would be present regardless of the faction filter, to still provide information on server downtime or upcoming patches.

It would be cool if the media was more prominant on the front page, or even in a header bar. The screenshots need to be shown off. Right now, the media is there but it feels a little buried. Like you have a link for XBox Live, but the screenshots are a couple links away, IF you know what you are looking for. The first time I tried to find them, it took me some time. Just my 2 cents.

Front page that has a big Planetside 2 flavor, maybe the entire background being the latest screenie.
The front page, now, is a highly ignorable wall of text that means close to nothing to any newcomer. Having lists of stuff "Clan W00TSL0BB3R" or whatever lists don't do anything to draw in the person new to the PS
Look at Intel's page. Look at the present PSU page. Note the contrast.
Less is more.

Both things will be coming, images will be far better highlighted and the majority of game content will be pushed to the wiki.
The outfit database will remain however it's one of our most used features and we hope to improve it to help outfits get exposure and recruit.
The site needs more AGN desk.

Hamma could I suggest a ASK the devs forum?
A direct link to them, somewhere we can ask them things about the new PS2?

How about a small banner between the sublinks at the top of the page, and the big "Featured News" area; indicating exact date/time and the proposed topics of the next AGN Wirecast?
That way I won't miss it like I did tonight, again
