Not a huge fan of solid blue like in BF3, bu other than that it's ballin'.

That tip is amazing.

quick, someone with too much time count the # of bases and such on the map!

Yeh not a fan of that either but higby said they are WIP and the maps will have different modes anyhow.

Still far better loading screen than the current game :D

I think I see 12, not counting the things I think are warpgates. There are two sets of structures that are really close. I counted each of those as two bases, but they seem too close together to be seperate bases.

I really love the look of this map, if all those structures are places to be fought over and capture, the fights will be a lot more varied I think.

The single color hue actually makes it easier to see the varying elevations and paths, but actual roads and bases are easily lost among that data. They really need to give capture points and roads a different color to make them easier to pick out.

Seems like the south west portion of Indar is a fairly level plateau.

I'm not expecting full color maps. I'm not about to scream every time they show us something that wasn't ripped directly from Planetside 1.

EDIT: The red markings look like hotspot markers, not bases. I thought that at first too, to be fair, but noticed all three look exactly the same.

EDIT 2: Oh, I see now, the ones with a video link have a square box underneath the hotspot marker. The north-eastern most one is probably on top of a tower, as it's the only one I can make out an actual structure for, the rest are completely hidden. They may be towers, they may also be simple bunkers. Though for towers/bunkers, they look more like hangars and power plants in those side panel shots...

Because they are removing the good parts of PS1. I wish they were making PS1+ but, alas, its a new game based on the bare bones structure of PS1.

Looks cool, but yeah roads/buildings need a different colour or shade of blue. Can't tell whats happening in the SW of the map at all.

Looks like it's around the same size as Just Cause2's vast desert island located southwestern part of Panau. (the whole island on JC2's demo)

BTW, looks awesome =) can't wait to play!

I really like that it shows you the continental time and weather. That's good info to know when you're loading in, but hopefully it's also on the warpgate selection screen.

Edit - I'd just like to also say I really don't like the blue tint on the maps. Stop trying to be like Battlefield 3. The UI works with that tint because it's similar to Planetside, but not exactly the same; but PLEASE do not keep the blue tint on maps!

Daaamn... I love it. The color/style of the map looks perfect imo. I need moar.

I rethought what I said about the blue tint, and realized that it doesn't look that bad for the loading screen. That doesn't change my dislike for it in game though. I want a colorized map. Overlays would be fine though.

Because BF3 revolutionized blue loading screens

i only count 9 and 3 warpgates, cant see whats under that red jizz, dont think its big enough to be bases.

Infact im sure there is nothing under that red stuff, when you refer to the other maps, there is nothing next to the amp station.

+1 for adding current weather and local time on the loading screen. Us weather geeks are happy.

Straightened it out. If the amp station size is roughly 350m, then this continent is roughly 6km x 6km.

Yea slightly larger than i thought from my estimations...based off higbys estimations on the continent size.

So we're talking similar to Ceryshen or Oshur in scale vs other conts then?

Yea since it seems rather small and compact, no large land stretches or water inbetween bases you would think this would be of a similar size to oshur....I hope.

I really want to see the large contents like cyssor, ishunder, even the unique sort of contents like chryshen and hossin..arg i like them all.

And we cant have planetside 2 without trademark 5 hour bridge battles, we need cyssor.

I also have the speculation that this is a home content, the wrapgate to the north is very farm from the other 2 and its right next to an amp station. both enemys have to go through several bases and alot of land to geto that north warpgate.

Im gonna guess its a TR home content and thats their warpgate to the north, NC will come in from the SE because it looks like its out of some hole and the mighty Vanu will come in from the SW.

On Planetside Syndicate website I saw that they're still in the planning stage of Cyssor construction. Maybe they'll butcher their plan in midstream, maybe not. We will see, though.

Bridge fights, Bridge fights, Tra la la la la.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing the battle islands again as long as they followed the unique rule sets for each island rather than the homogeneous set they have now. I miss the big ass tank fights on Desolation and the Bridge fights on Extinction. Heck, even had 1 or 2 good infantry fights on Nexus.
Still want to see what they could do with caves with that new lighting engine. The idea of pitch black tunnels twisting all about with bases that look like buried space stations with fog coming from burst pipes has burrowed into my mind like a headcrab. Really can not wait to see what they're going to do with this game.

Look up the Webcast video, the part when Cesar comes to Higby's office. The color isn't set in stone, plus it will be just one of many layers you can toggle. I'm pretty sure they can generate a color render of the terrain, among other stuff.

I am personally concerned about one thing, though. Where are the 2 other warpgates?
Edit: Nevermind, there they are... :P

Weather: partly cloudy with a chance of NC and TR showers.

I like some indication of the weather before you go in (like the pre-bending PS1). That's a nice touch.

LMAO, "Empire population" 0%, 0%, 0%... that looks all too familiar. So how are there hotspots there?

Also, is it just me, or do those little screens attached to each of those hotspots look like surveillance cameras? I doubt they are live pictures on a loading screen, but maybe they are camera shots right before the loading started?

And I like this screen and everything else I've seen for the UI. PS1's UI seems kinda clunky by modern terms, lots of drop down menus and long clicks. Remember how much a pain in the ass it was to draw a battle plan on the map?
I'm really digging this stuff. I'm not too hot on the blue hue idea either - I don't like it very much in BF (it makes everything look too robotic, and adds a glow that reminds me of those old CRT monitors) - but keep the geometry and the layout, and let this be just one of many overlays on the actual map itself, and I'll be a happy clam.

Don't forget that the scale of meters is a bit off in PS1. Perceptually 1 meter in PS1 is a lot shorter than it should be - somewhere between 2/3 to 1/2 the length it should be.

For example, tower stairwell interiors measure ~15m x 23m, which makes a stair landing about 50ft across. But perceptually, it's more like 30 feet at the most.

Point being, if they got the scale right this time (and looking at that Mossie/Amp station screenie I think they have), a 350m base is HUGE and 6km x 6km would swallow the largest PS1 maps (i.e. - Cyssor and Searhus, whose landmasses are both ~7.5km x 7.5km in PS1 terms, and I suspect would be only 4-5km x 4-5km in PS2 terms).

I love the short meteorological report up in the corner! Looks like weather and time of day are important enough to be loading screen info now!
