View Full Version : What happens upon log in this time around?

I've asked this in the past but I never got a follow up for it, and as far as I know SoE has never answered this clearly.

Since there's no Sanctuaries this time around and we apparently have an uncapturable foothold on each continent, what happens upon logging in? Are you spawned at some random uncaptureable foothold or the last one you logged in at? Is there perhaps a pseudo "Sanctuary" more like a "mothership" that you start off at and are then dispatched to various footholds around the world?

This question has been puzzling me for a while now. The lack of sanctuaries really makes it more difficult to organize and form up for an attack since there's no starting area per se. Based on what little information I know, it sounds like you just log in and are basically "instant actioned" to whatever continent is hot right now and then you go from there.

I hope I didn't miss anything, I haven't been to active on these boards until recently and I'd like to get some clarity on this. Thanks.

I'd guess you are taken where you logged in, like in PS1.

That, or then it lets you choose which foothold you wanna be beamed to, but in case of disconnects, the last place you were in sounds like a smarter idea.

There will probably be an option to take you where you were or to where the fighting is now.

Got answered some time ago, dont ask me for a source, i have no idea if it was during a Twitter QnA, some random twitter chat, or on the forums.

When you login, you see the map screen and can choose continent, spawn point, mission etc.

And that bugs me. I mean, you could have that AND sanctuarys.

Yeah, I don't see the point in eliminating sanctuaries. They served their purpose as a place to log in at and a place to organize and rally for a fight. Removing them just seems counter productive to me.

One thing that bugged me about PS1 is if your last spawn location was held by the enemy, you first had to load that continent fully before the game knew you needed to go to sanc, then you had to wait for sanc to load, THEN you could finally start the processes of going where you need to. You'd think the game could do a check without loading the whole cont, but oh well. So in that light, at least with the lack of sancs, you will be able to get into action faster.

No they are essentially in. They are just called "Home Bases" now. Higby said he was thinking of putting them in as a place where players can meet up, aka Sancturaries!
