Oh, yeah. Gotta fix that. Passable in old school PS1 era games, to some degree, but if we've got reflections on eyeballs in PS2, ya gotta fix that shit.
The detail is great. It's nice to have solid pictures of all three empires armor. It gives a lot more of a complete sense of how battles will look, seeing the art direction between all three sides. What your friends and enemies will look like up close.
Don't shoot until you see the reflections on their eyes!
You can absolutely see the difference between areas that have received more polish and areas that are still being worked on. The fully finished environments with all placeholder textures replaced are going to be stunning, although the environments already looks pretty stunning with those atmospheric effects.
Are you sure that shit runs in real time?
(goes back and rewatches AGN footage)
Dayum. Good stuff.

Now that I look at this longer, I'm noticing A lot of reflections. The sides of the visor, the bottom of the beamer, the eyes, the left guys right shoulder, the bottom of the knuckles, and on and on. I really hope this dose not kill my PC.

On the bright side, the game is so complex now that I'm positive that a few VS disco balls will no longer bog down the game like it used to.
Well, I guess there's still net traffic to worry about...

It won't, those are cube map reflections mixed with some sort of phong material they're not reflecting real time objects.

I'm loving the snakeskin style the Vanu are rocking these days, that a TRay fashion addition?

VS easily are the best looking empire, hands down. Those individual hexes on the armor still wow me every time. It's so pretty.

I have to say i'm at least a little worried this game is going to be slideshow again like Planetside 1 was when it was new. The graphics are pretty ambitious considering they aim for thousands of soldier models running around. With that level of detail it will be using up record amounts of video memory I would think. Would not be surprised if the screenshots end up going backwards in quality over time if they realize it needs to be scaled back. But yeah looking quite good.

SWTOR did a very interesting move in that direction. They had been slowly increasing the number of people every time for weekend beta testing and final testing weekend (which seems to be this week) is going to be full access for all who signed up. A very good way to test server and game stability.

Dont' get me wrong, but it looks like the texture of the shoulderpads. (I may be looking in the wrong place, sorry in advance) lol. <3

Y'all didn't get the memo? All VS infantry are getting cloaking devices, Obama had just activated it as the screenshot was taken.

I'd assume most people will have to turn down graphics. Yeah, the game engine can do all these cool things but when you add 100s of players on the same screen at the same time your PC's hardware has to be able to handle it. But, maybe ForgeLight is this amazing engine that can give us the pretty with the many... <shrug>

Either the normals are backwards or there are a few polygons missing from that location.

Along with graphics, game engines are typically focusing on pumping out the most from even crappy machines.
But then, when you're developing a game you're planning to keep running and for people to keep playing for years to come, it might not be such a bad idea to set a maximum graphics bar that runs well under mid-high end rigs 4-5 years down the road. I mean, look at Battlefield 3. A lot of people are probably only running that on High settings. In a few years, everyone that likes to play games should be able to run it on Ultra, unless they're still on their WoW era machines (but then wth are they doing playing BF3?)

I just now noticed the right shoulder. I kept looking at the left one. Then again it looks like the very left soldier has the same. Looks more like tubing, as Khell has mentioned. Anywhoooo..

That's because you are looking in a loop of tubing.

He's talking about seeing through Obama's right shoulder pad to the scene in the hills beyond.
OMG! Is that Vanu himself on the hilltop, in an apparition, like Mars or Ares, overseeing the battle and being pleased with what he sees?

They will still be the most played though.
"Weapons that instantgib, sounds like a nobrainer to me"
i see the battles now, NC instantgib rifles vs VS shock rifles and link guns vs TR miniguns.
