I'm just curious. And this thread needs to be in PS2 discussion.

Not CR5

was never much for leading squads, though I probably would have been CR5 if I had stuck to 1 character. I believe one of my deleted TR characters was CR3 on the verge of 4.

btw, does anyone know if character info was stored client side in the early days of PS1? I stopped playing the game twice in those early days, and both times that I reinstalled, my character was gone.

After they made it a joke to get, everyone has it that actually wants it. They should have left it like it was. But as per usual SoE decisions they went for the quick buck and made it easy to give people a reason to play more despite it not being a good move for the game in general.

Not only did making it just take a ton less work, make it easier and massively faster, it also becomes a goal that seems more attainable so people who wouldnt even try before, would now go for it. Ends up with there being a massive glut of cr5's. Which is just not good in so many ways. And no that doesnt mean those of us who did it the hard way were anything special or any better leaders, dont get me wrong. But the quality definitely goes down when any joe schmo can get it just being in the first slot in the squad of zerglings who dont even really play together, and in relatively short order.

yep. soe did the same to swg. at first it took you a lot of months of hard work and luck to become a jedi, the exact mechanics of the process being top secret. but the kids cried out and soe made jedi a starter class and killed the atmosphere of the game by this.

I've always avoided CR5. I've been CR4 for years now.

To show that most of zerg leadership solutions are biased.

Can you elaborate a bit? What do you mean by "zerg leadership solutions?" Are you talking about things in PS2 like the mission system that attempts to direct the zerg into some way other than just /contalls? And what kind of bias are you expecting or trying to illuminate?

For the record I have one CR5. It took me about 7 years to get him there because I had little interest in it and preferred to focus in advancing BR's. Plus there were always too many others I played with who were like, "Oooo! I want SL I need the cep! Pick me! Pick me!" whenever an SL slot became available. I just wasn't that motivated to get it and most true leadership was carried out at the outfit-level anyway.

It was only once the VS CR5's for the most part stopped communicating and directing operations empire-wide via globals and /contalls that I even bothered getting it since the zerg and the outfit-less still need some direction.

No, I never was interested in Command Rank and stopped playing the game after it went into decline.

Never got CR5. I have no idea how I have CR4. I got the game when it was released and played on and off over the years and never led a squad pretty much when the cap went through. I'd go in bursts of a few weeks at a time then stop playing so I never felt the need for CEP and would always promote someone to squad leader during base caps. That and I never stuck around for base caps. I heard they were boring.

I only got CR3 so I could draw Kyubei soliciting magical contracts, Pacman eating Voltan and Bruce (from Jaws) devouring Orisha and reavers rocketspamming enemy bases.

Coincidentally my outfit is not putting me in charge of platoons anymore

I've never been interested in leading and I know I'm not overly good at it. Had zero reasons to try failing around as a leader of any kind :D I do better when I get the orders from someone else.

Got two and a cr4

I got the second to show how easy it was before the cep buff .... and the cr4 just came along by accident - I stopped playing that char when werner and gemini merged.

I'm wondering how many of the people who don't have a CR5 because they are "not interested" are the same ones who send tell's to a CR5 telling them to Global something.

Wyndblade

Nope I am CR 0, close to CR 1 though. But in my defense I have really only been playing like 2-3 months total between now and when the 45 day free play time happened. Also with our outfit only 4-5 of us are active so the thought is to let the CR 3s and 4s level up and get some of the useful things as opposed to newbies such as myself.

Only on NC, since my outfit likes to spread the love around. Not in an outfit on TR/VS cause I don't play 'em as much, I think I'm like CR2 or 3 on those.

CR0, 99.9% of the time solo, and no desire to be lame and farm CR with the rest of the monkeys that had no actual interest in genuine leadership, but just wanted a backpack, OPed abilities like OSes, and access to command chat to talk a load of crap.

It really was a terrible system.

I've never read globals. I always had the chatbox pushed off to the side since I used TS when playing with wolfpack so we never talked using the chatbox.

Really glad they have built in voice now. Should make that easier.
