It's a yearly show, and it's hard to award a game that isn't out yet.

A marketing ploy sponsored by the game publishers looking to cash in before Christmas.

I remember watching one of these award shows and a Madden game won game of the year. pffffffft!

I watch it for some game announcements, otherwise the awards are given to whatever the mob is playing.
