Im very curious as to the requirements that are going to be required for this game. Im currently gauging to by a new PC before the holidays are over. One of my biggest peves in PlanetSide was any type of lag that would force you to suck ass i.e. freezing and then dying in a red alert.
Im currently sporting this:

but I plan on toying with the graphics card for this game to run smooth as possible. Suggestions?

I'd guess the GPU will be the weakest link, CPU should have plenty to overclock.
I'm sporting quite a similar system myself (Phenom II x6 1090T as CPU though), but with HD5770. While I can play every game out there totally fine, just not on ultra, I can see myself upgrading for PS2.
Devs said it should run fine on systems that are a few yrs old.
The one you linked is fine for medium settings IMO. I don't like the CPU or GPU very much, and if you are buying a separate GPU then you have to make sure it's compatible with that power supply.
The key to MMO's is processor. The graphics won't be demanding, but the amount of players will require a good CPU if you want to run smoothly in big battles.
The core i5/i7 series have been pretty dominant in the market. I know AMD has some cheap 6 cores, but at this stage no one knows is PS2 will support more than 6 cores.
I would advise building your own system if you have time.
Duck hit it right on the spot. Avoid that FX processor. I suggest not getting anything less then a Intel Core i5 quad core and 6770/GTX 550 Ti depending on your budget.
I don't know when you were planning on a new computer specifically, but it looks like new midrange GPUs will be out around Feb anyway.

I can run BF3 on Ultra with no less than 25 FPS at any moment. It might dip a bit below with explosions going off everywhere at once though.

Well I mean the processor irregardless should be more then enough for Ps2 but I am more concerned about the graphics card being able to handle the engine. I know the one I currently have does not fit those standards.

Not exactly. That supposed quad core FX 4100 is actually a step back from even last generation. A Phenom II 955 BE will slap it around rather easily. Even the Core i3 2100 will out do both of those processors in the majority of games even if it is a two core CPU.
We do not know about what will be needed to run this game smoothly right now. I would guess a 6870/GTX 560 Ti will be able to run it smoothly, but who knows if that will max it out.

If you can hold out, wait until mid-Feb. By then new tech in several hardware categories in multiple price bands and we should know more about PS2 and more specific rig requirements.

I'm in dire need for a new system, mine is closing the 5 years. Still running most things fine thanks to a recent GPU upgrade, however can't stretch it more.

Bullshit, looking at those specs... lol, you sure know how to overkill
Someone msged Higby a while back, and said their specs were 2500k, 8gb ddr3, and a 560gtx, and higby said that it would be "bitching" for PS2.
I',m sure you won't be maxing it, but that's what he said.

Lol thats not my PC...maybe 2 years ago it would have been overkill, but not anymore.
I just laugh everytime i see a post like that in some forum...when a person is seriously dumb and not trolling.

This, and Higby said they are shooting for it to run well on 5 year old hardware.
Once we get closer, I would love to see them build a $500 PC and run the game on it just so we can truly see how it does.

Firefall has their own "$600 dollar computer that will run Firefall" thing going on. I'm sure something similar would handle Planetside 2.

How is it not? The most graphics intensive game on the market right now is BF3, and my GTX460/4GB RAM can run that on max settings at 30 FPS. Crossfiring 6990s and 16GB RAM is unnecessary. Unless you do a hell of a lot of CS5 work, you definitely don't need 16GB anyway.

...yes this is why i run I7 950, 6GB or ram and a 5970 :P as i said, its 2 years old, used to be overkill, not somuch anymore.

I have funds in hand, waiting to pull the trigger on a new build.
Hopefully we see some build threads as I love to geek over that shit.
