View Full Version : Is Auraxis going to be "bent"?

It seems the trend of most storytelling in this decade is alternate timelines. I believe I read that PS2 will follow that same trend. Which leads me to ask the question, is Auraxis still bent? I suspect the game will start shortly after the wormhole closed with just enough time post-closing for the three factions to form a stable organization. Which if true means it's not bent.

Did I just answer my own question?

I totally despised whichever silly SOE writer brought The Bending of PS1 about. All of it. Totally incomprehensible B.S. that was not necessary at all. I'm pretty sure at that time we'd have readily-accept just a simple game change. That's it with no mushroom candy B.S.

Yeah I'm confident they won't be bringing it back. PS2 is a re-envision of the game world and not a continuation of the gameworld we know.

Yep, reimagining. If you read up on some of the backstory stuff they've posted you can get a more clear idea of the new timeline, but essentially yes, we are starting at the beginning again. No alien cave tech, no BFR's, no bending.

Some of the details about the empires are a little different as well, and obviously the game will play a bit different, but for the most part it will be a fairly 1:1 reset of the original game, with much better technology backing it up.

Also, even more players per continent than the first game. It's gonna be big.

The NGE failed for SOE on SWG and their version for PS... you really think they'd try it again for PS2.

Yep back to the old school Auraxis map, no caves or BFR's or silly broken up continents to planets.

And we even have a new continent, Indar to contend with.

Think Indar sounds like short for Ishundar for a reason. :P

well they are both desert maps and if you shorten Ishundar you do get Indar.... we just need another continent called Shu to balance it out or at least a nice island off Indar hehe :D

I hope Smed's been on his ten step plan for epic failures.

I don't think I could stomach another SWG fiasco from SOE. It's been the coffin nail for a long time now and why I refuse to play any SOE games. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on you.

Some of the reasons I think we may avoid this issue has something to do with Higgles and the restructure of Sony Entertainment and its subordinate PL's. This time around the bean counters are at Sony Online Entrainment for the most part. Unlike during the PS1/SWG days of old when SOE was being controlled by people who didn't know squat about MMO's or Online Entertainment. You can't have a VP making calls on a MMO when what they know is Vinyl, Music Videos, and controlling music artists catalogs. This time around the business matrix is more localized within SOE as the PL being able to make a case and work it as long as they stay under forecast and within schedule.

It's actually:

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.

;)

But yeah, MMO knowledgable people need to be in charge.
