For all us Cash Shop Soldiers - what do you hope to buy?

I, for one, am really excited to sign up for the Premium Membership. And, among all the things that this membership might contain (double-XP, always-online-skill-unlock-speed), I am hoping that the benefits include a monthly/weekly stipend of game-cash. I think this is very appropriate to assume for a few reasons. One, we've already given them real money; they might as well give us some imaginary money (ie- they have already made their sale with us before giving us any buyable product, so they might as well let us have some of their digital wares). Two, and perhaps more importantly, it makes commerce from their cash shop a regular, predictable event. If we get 200 Planetside Buxx every month, we will regularly be purchasing things, such as new cosmetic items or level-boosts, etc. Our brothers and sisters in our Outfits and factions will see us running around with awesome amethyst-and-black Vanu camouflage called "Auraxian Twilight" or a badass gladiator shoulder-pauldron on your Terran Heavy Assault armor. This will inspire people to make other purchases, and thus stimulate the economy. And i WANT this game's economy to be NICE and stimulated.

So, assuming we get a stipend of Planetside Buxx (I am going to use that term until the Devs tell us what the currency is actually called), what would you guys want to buy? I would HAPPILY buy:

1. Color/camo patterns for my VS armor, including maybe the ability to tone down the purple a bit (for instance, the VS Infiltrator in the video is mostly gray). Though that amethyst-and-black camo WOULD be awesome...

2. Different cosmetic articles, such as helmets or (presumably more-expensive) entire suits of armor for my Engineer. ALSO, I would be very interested in different skins for my Pulsar Carbine, if those would be available.

3. I bet that creating a homogeneous uniform for your Outfit will be a feature that you purchase (since it's cosmetic), and I totally want my Outfit to have a specific style.

4. If the rest of my character and my Outfit were taken care of (all the cosmetic adjustments that I wanted), and I were just accruing Planetside Buxx week after week, I would be more than happy to burn a few Buxx to buy-forward into my skill tree (instantly purchasing unlocks that I would otherwise take time to learn) such as various bombs, upgrades, or Scythe-unlocks (Hell yeah, fighter pilot FTW).

How about you guys? Let's let the Devs know what to put in there!

I'll probably try to keep my "supporting" up to 13€/month or so, as in the basic sub-price for a sub-based game. Doesn't really matter what I buy, probably some premium and if there are leftovers, probably something from cash shop.

Could have sworn we had a few of these threads before, but in the cash shop I'm hoping for hats (Stetson) and pets (hostile or passive, I don't really care). I'd pay for that.

Not that I'd pay for it, but I'd like to see different colored shields or shield skins.

I hope they don't have pets in Planetside 2. And actually, I hope that they don't have hats either; it would look silly, and I'm very, VERY hopeful that there isn't any silliness in the game. Silliness is appropriate for World of Warcraft or Team Fortress 2, but not this game, and once you add silliness, it taints the entire playing field (you can't ignore that it's now part of the game's canon).

I had NOT considered different-looking shields. That is VERY interesting! I would definitely go for that! That bright-blue electric flash that was occurring over the characters in the gameplay video was actually kind of obtrusive; I'd rather a more subsumed animation than that.

2.Custom Outfit logo. - Let us pick

Personally i'd pay a dollar or 2 for a 3 pack of black ops tomahawks. Great fun but if you don't retrieve them, you lose em.

They could include tons of stuff that most people would be like "that's not what I want" but then there's always a group of people that look at what that person wants and goes "that's not what I want" so you end up with uniqueness between players instead of uniformity.

Probably, but it's unlikely that you would get everything the cash shop has automatically.

DCUO has a pretty good example of tiered subscriptions, I see it likely that we'll have something similar here.

from all the details iv read it looks like the resources will be the currency you earn ingame for advancement and buying skills, and also upgrading vehicles and such, but you can also buy soem of the certs of unlocks with station cash. but i would have to think that having an active sub would increase the amount of resources you get compared to nonsubbed players.

i guess i will have to buy favorite loadout slots.

if there are xp boosters maybe i will get some occasionally while waiting for a skill to complete. or faster skill-learning or a longer queue

armor customisation has to look really badass to convince me to buy it. maybe camo if it really helps.

surely i will not pay for additional char slots. only had one twink on ps1 i actually used sometimes. and if there is no cap in ps2 one char is enough.

don´t know if they will sell ressource-packs and how urgently we will need the ressources to keep fighting with our favorite guns. if i need 1000 analium to pull a vanguard, and the fight only gives out 100 per hour, i´m not sure if i would buy ressource packs or back off the game instead.

Well for me, since I am mildly colorblind, I hope they have sidegrade visuals.

An example of which might be allowing a different icon set for maps etc. Distinguishing VS from NC towers on the old PS1 maps was almost impossible for me. I could see the design on the bases, but the towers no... Stuff like that...

Pay accounts will most likely grant the ability to form/lead both outfits and squads... that's what I think the biggest difference is, aside from the skins and what not.

I would pay for a cigar my character can use, and have an idle smoking animation. Even if the tip gives off a glow.

I would also pay for a 48 hour que(assuming they will do a 24 hour que max). This way I can que up 30 or so hours of certs ad when I log back in the next day build up the que back to 30ish hours. That way I am as efficient as possible.

If it's anything like the everquest 2 shop I'd spend all my station cash on a max level character with every cert available trolling around having not earned any of it.. not to mention killing every noob because I have a 15/20% dmg advantage

Nah it was confirmed a while back that it's first person only. Vehicles have third person though.

Hrmm... I must definitely agree that that looks fantastic. (good old Command and Conquer). However, I don't know if capes would fit in with the aesthetic that Planetside 2 is creating. But yes, that image is totally awesome.

Do's: I'd be pumped for Custom vehicle skins, per outfit, rather than just an icon. yet still distinguishable what faction they are.

and Yes please have a monthly subscription, id pay that to nuke the goldsellers and spammers, if you must have a free trial, do it like PS: Reserves, let people play to level 15 or so, no global chat, only local chat.



Dont's: Stray from Pay to Win, like extra dps, I dont think its fair to step up a game for some because they have money or some dont, or some cant spare it. I feel like you would keep more players in the game for it being a level playing ground, rather than mostly a level playing ground, with 5% of people that just own everything, while they use their allowance from thier dad while occupying wallstreet.. wait, lets keep politics outta here. :P
