Hi all

just wondering what people's thoughts are on one shot kills in Planetside 2 ?

And just so we're all talking about the same thing one shot kill could also include rapid fire that kills in less than half a second or instadeath from being run over.

Now assuming their engine has body location hit detection the potential for acutal headshots could be possible, but would anyone actually want this ?

I guess another way of thinking about it, in a 1v1 situation what is the minimum amount of time is should take any weapon combination to kill the other guy assuming decent skills.

should even the highest level of skill ever give you the ability to one shot kill ? keeping in mind of course it could be you receiving the instakill

Sniper rifle is confirmed for a 1 HS kill. i believe.

I think that tanks should probably gib, on a direct or close to direct shot.

shogun should gib at sub 3 meters on light assault, probably more like sub 10 for an infiltrator.

fastest TTK i think should be 0.07 -.14 seconds, for 2-3 consecutive headshots, once shields are down, consider that effectively 3 shots at approx 37damage (25+50% for HS) at 850RPM. say 3-4 shots to take down light assault shields at a low range.

That is a seriously fast TTK, I am all for fast TTKs, matter of fact the first game I've ever played on PC was a rainbow six game... so ya. I LOVE fast TTK's.. but
.14 seconds seems a bit extreme when there will be several people in a firefight at the minimum.

Maybe I'm not seeing your math right, but I would say it needs 5-7 shots and at about .90 if not an entire second of firing. .14 would just be a blood bath and spray and pray like no other, kinda like nuketown on hardcore.

i think that should be the fastest TTK on target with the least armour and the highest DPS gun, thats implying that all shots hit and the shooter is at close range before degradation sets it. that TTK involves 4 shots, including the opening 0 second shot to take down the shields, then not stopping firing and putting 3 shots in the head...pretty hard to do unless you have a gun with COD accuracy.

thats twice the normal ttk of BF3 with is .2 seconds.

.42 seconds seems kinda low for when there will be mad people fighting at once. needless to say i feel as if that would make the mcg imba as shit. I think the original PS ttks were fine with a bit faster tweak if at all.

How so? assault rifles in PS2 have the fastest TTK.

general TTK is: .425 for a non headshot kill, taken from the AUG stats.

so my assumption maybe right and we will see around .4 as a minimum.

I do support faster TTk's. I think being skilled enough to get the drop on someone is more worthy of a kill than being able to stay on target. It give Infils a chance.

Don't forget headshot damage multipliers are based on the weapon, and Higby implied HA weapons may not get any damage bonus at all for a headshot.

PS1 TTK's were okay for shotgun weapons, slightly slow for the MCG/Lasher, and absolute shit for MA and pistols, esp once medkits/SW/Pshield/degradation were thrown in.

More on topic, as I've said in the past I don't think any infantry weapons should be OSOK against anything more armoured than a cloaker or maaaaybe a sniper.

If the COF system is gone and replaced with a more sane and modern recoil system my main complaint about the TTK is taken care of: A half a second TTK means absolutly nothing when after 4 shots you're shooting at 90 degree angles.
