You should probably start playing PS1 and hook up with one of the outfits still going there.

This pretty much, outfits that have been dedicated all these years will definitely be fun to play with. It'll also give you a chance to determine which faction you enjoy the most and will most likely main in PS2.

I played PS1 for awhile, but PS1 right now is broken, :/ theres BFR's and all this junk thats unbalanced. And i would rather not "search" for an outfit in game and waste my time, rather than talk and interview myself and them to see if i fit. ya know?
I was just checking, i may do this though, thanks for the input. :)
EDIT:
Actually is there a trial for PS1 out right now?

When was the last time you saw a BFR? They are nothing special now
Sadly, no trial currently

BFRs have been nerfed to balance level for a while now... Not sure what "junk" you are referring to that is unbalanced. About the most unbalanced thing in PS1 right now is the empire populations.

Anyone have any Pre Game outfit set up? Im looking to join, not create this time around.
Just looking to know and get to know a group of guys before the game releases so we are familiar with playstyles, did this with Eve online and AoC.
I'm planning on making one, but I don't have a specific purpose for it yet as I do not know which works or not in the game yet, but I mainly want to create a mixed role professional TR outfit that focuses on researching and utilizing tactics in codified drills and trying to found out which ones work efficiently or not.

Good plan, iv seen time and time again people plan and overplan for things when they know nothing about the game, best to have patience and then play it as it lays.

Might want to mention which region/continent you'd like to play in.
I remember in the olden days before PS1 I joined an American-bound outfit and got busy with making friends and getting to know everybody.
Boy did I feel silly with my 400ms ping in Emerald when it came online :D

Deathwatch Gaming (http://www.deathwatchgaming.com) (EU)
Ahh yeah.
Currently we in several games. Latest attraction is SWTOR (personally do not like). Collected and formed during Global Agenda time, which is when we really worked together. The level of co-operation we made in Global Agenda has now diminished and we long for a recollection of co-operative gaming. Veteran members wish that to happen, and with PlanetSide 2 it shall!
Founded upon social interaction, we talk so much laughable shit on third-party comms. Pretty sure you'll enjoy it. There's be a fuck load of members since SWTOR and currently we have 543.
The chosen Empire for Deathwatch is undecided. I may be leading it though the selected Empire is a group decision and I know my high-command has already decided Vanu Sovereignty as gay as he is... lol. NC because we're proclaimed 'mercenaries' or TR because I like red and black.
We participate in Firefall beta, too. Speaking from a non-beta Firefall follower's ideal perspective: Firefall PvP will not surpass PlanetSide 2 ever.

Israel. Really, Werner was the only logical choice. Even there I had ~120ms at first, later that improved to 80ms. These days I might get 70ms to European servers in Tribes Ascend. Hopefully to improve in the coming years.

One of the best players i've ever seen, "Thecheesestandsalone" was from Isreal, so if his ping was that bad, that give him even more props lol

Well ... not to detract from Cheese's fame, but some ISPs had better and worse performance than others and I was connected on a poor man's ADSL connection back then...

The best idea is, as was said, to look up outfits that still have a presence in PS1. All the outfits I know are planning to start up again in PS2.
Hard to say what style to adopt at this stage even such a simple thing a tank based, gal based or mossie/reaver/scythe as we don't know their individual merits nor how quickly xp can be earned so that a single char when switching roles can be effective.
I expect a lot a planning will have to wait until beta.

Well how we did it in AoC, i was in Rising Arms, Which quickly became top ranked and had our PvP Castle up in no time, was, We jumped into a game, say Global Agenda, or "lineage II free servers" and played around, way before beta, just getting to know each others playstyles, making usre we didnt have someone we were designating as leadership that was like. OH HAI! IM TEH SUPER DOUCHEZ! it was just to get to know everyonre basically. honestly just a group of friends initially, but we have the whole heirarchy all setup and rules and a forum and website all up with comms, and information. Ended up being pretty seamless, and with PS2 (sadly) being F2P it shouldnt be hard to run these things. heck i can host 70 people on a ventrilo server on my connection without getting retarded lag. :P
(Btw I am American, MidWest, so thats my play server)
And Google Fiber Internet will be here shortly so then, I can host EVEN MOAR!

Probably not the best idea given the current state of the game. There's like 1 semi-active semi-coordinated outfit online per empire at primetime, at best.
