There might be a better place for this, but I'll post it here. Planetside 2 will have plenty of new people coming to the stage.Me being one of them. I first found out about planetside about a year after its release. I never played it because my pc was terrible:(. My cousin however owned the game, and I watched him play it a few times. Even though I never played it, I saw how awesome it could be. With Planetside 2 coming out I am sure my pc can at least play it. Maybe not on max settings but it could run on a good framerate.
Now we get to the main point. After getting the game you are given a threeway choice. NC TR Vanu. What faction do you choose? I can not settle down on one faction. I am kinda leaning towards Vanu atm, but I could easily go with NC or TR. I know a little on how each play and all of them good pros/cons that I can use.If you guys could post highly biased opinions to persuade me/us hopefully me and other newberts could make a choice.

Vanu is the faction for men, were not pussies who make love to women, we need a mans strong embrace to make love, also we have the balls to wear purple.
Mind you our weapons while they might be good today, probably wont be tomorrow.

IMO:
It all depends on playstyle. If youre new at FPS, go for TR, Also they arepowerful if youre good too, Alot of the weapons are automatic mass bullets, some would say Spray and Pray, However if youre good, you can take people out a little bit faster.
If your into shotgun and go, NC may be your playstyle, IMO NC excel indoors, where a shotgun is best (close range) they are good for many other things.
VANU have a good splash dmg radius, so you can damage mass people alot, also good for indoors, and outdoors too... Theyre all a dif playstyle, you have to decide...
TR Point.
NC Spray.
Vanu Splash.
Just my opinion. :)

Do you like BIG canons and hitting HARD ? -> NC
Or do you prefer giving a softer touch to your attacks ? -> VS
Or maybe you just prefer a more dominating approach in your tactics... -> TR
I'm VS and I like purple.

As I understand the three factions... short version goes...
1. Terran Republic - Imperialistic attitude, with a high volume of fire military doctrine.
2. New Conglomerate - Rebellious attitude, with a low volume, hard punch military doctrine.
3. Vanu Sovreignty - Technophile attitude, with a high tech advantage military doctrine.
So if you like a 9 mil Beretta go TR, if you like a .45 cal go NC, if you like a phaser go VS...

NC is where its at. Though I like the TR's mossy much more then the lame NC one

Personally I would prefer rapid firing pulse lasers for Vanu. :3
But yes, that is the case.
I'm going where the Reavers are. The NC.
I'd like to stay TR, but they're really don't have much to offer besides just a fast-moving vehicles.
If you prefer to run - go TR.
If you prefer to fight - go NC.

Of course you can't decide. You're trying to make a decision based on looks alone. Why not do something crazy like wait to play the game a bit, and see whose gear you prefer, before making a choice?

Dont know if anyones noticed for a while but the poll on the sites homepage has 2800 votes and all 3 factions have 33% each.
Awesome.

I will be NC because my friends are.
I would rather be toting a MCG though and the TR body armor looks sweet.
Oh well....I can only pray there will be new armor styles I can buy in the shop for my homeless looking NC.

I played NC for 8 years. The outfit is going NC. So I am going NC. Besides I love the style of play the NC have. The Gauss was dominant in open field and the Vanguard was a Beast.

People sometimes use the term "technophile" to describe the VS, and in some ways, I think it's because their purpose and driving message is not as clearly-defined and easily understood as the Terrans who want order, even if it means militaristic domination, and the NC, who want freedom, even if it means bloodshed. Surely we are NOT saying that the Vanu are driving by nothing more than "a love of technology." That's far more limited than the other two factions.
"We are waging this war on behalf of advanced technology." No, that's ridiculous.
Imbibing and metabolizing what I could from all the writings for this game (the one's I've ferreted out, anyway), I believe that "evolution and progress" is the Vanu's goal, and they are fighting the war because they believe that both the NC and the TR are choosing a path toward stagnation and ultimately, destruction due to not evolving or adapting. Technology and science are merely the "means" by which the Vanu intend to make this journey toward evolution.
When I submitted my slogan to the PS2 Devs, I only made one for the Vanu; I thought it would be rude to make one for the Terrans or the NC, neither of whom are my faction. For the Vanu, I wrote their slogan to be:
"That all may ascend."
That is their goal, that is why they do all of this: so that everyone may ascend to whatever state is next for humanity.
I didn't win the contest, but I was glad to be a part of it :-)
Terrans: Order
New Conglomerate: Freedom
Vanu Sovereignty: Ascention
I am Vanu. And we are tomorrow.

More so than any other empire, the TR are a professional military, they are the most synergistic of the teams and benefit the most from numbers and coordination.
I'm going to be TR because this is the kind of game I want to play.

Of course you do realize, what just for picking TR, you won't get "+10 to Coordination" buff? It will be the same 9 y.o. kids zerging from 1 base to another, and then it comes to zerging, the side that got most powerfull weapons gonna win. And that side is obviously the NC.

I'm rebellious by nature and question authority daily so I guess I'll side with the NC. Freedom forever!

Weird, NC now leads with 34% :O
Still up in the air for me. I want to see the full weapon layout for each empire prior to making my decision. I was NC in PS, but I have no issue changing.

don´t just go for color or look of the vehicles. you will regret this choice ;-)
the playstyles are the thing to base your choice on!
like it has been said already:
TR if you like fast firing full autoguns, fast moving vehicles and the tactics that evolve around these options.
NC if you like fat armor with staying power and slow firing weapons that really hit hard! this needs aiming skill, but if you aim right, you get a big reward for doing so.
VS if you are a noob and need to have very special advantages like tanks and fighters that can go sideways and weapons that don´t need your aim to hurt enemys.

They say less is more. But here in the Terran Republic military, the more ammo in the air, the better.

What you don't see is the village and all of the villagers they just vaporized to kill a few Vanu because they have no control over the amount of collateral damage whatsoever.

It's not collateral damage when you mean to hit them. They'd clearly have all been brainwashed by the cultists and had to be destroyed.

One day this war will be over, the wormhole will open, and the Terran Republic will have billions of reinforcements!
The Terran Republic, the only victor in the long run, the only right.
PS: We are not mimicking devs. Red text is the official language of the Terran Republic. We are united in mind, language, weaponry, awesomeness, and overall superiority.

Beamer secondary fire mode.
We can just pull the TR and NC in and permanently kill them.

Well, I only played PS1 for a few months, but I was NC there, so I'll probably be NC again.
Though if I find the right outfit and they're not NC I wouldn't have a problem swapping over.
