Hello all,
Now this has been bugging me for some time now.
If PS2 is going free2Play then its income will all be based from the cash shop after initial release costs.
Now if this is the case SOE are going to need 1000's of customizations to keep the different player bases happy on hower many servers there will be. The lone wolves/squads/outfits/whoever will all need their own little gimmick shop items etc etc etc.
Now I just cant imagine PS with all these customizations as in PS1, all we could customise was the vehicle logo, (if you take away UI and load-out).
I really cant see what areas SOE will manage to fit all the shop items in. Unless Higby and the crew have been keeping a lot of information from us. I suppose this is the more viable answer but I still cant get my head around it.
I suppose this is still early days and more information will become available.
Its just got my head buzzing over these shop items.

EQ2 and DCU were converted to F2P games.
PS2 was designed from the ground floor to be F2P.
I have no doubts that they learned enough from converting their own games to F2P and watching other companies do the same to their game such as Age of Conan and Star Trek online.
There will most likely be a plethora of goodies to buy and feed the SOE coffers.

WTB less worn out gear for NC :D
Not assembly line stuff, but the current wear and tear seems to stick out like a sore thumb! TRs wear and tear is ok, but it could also be cos their colours are less radical. Like I noticed their gear is worn out too, but it was often from grey'ish areas, so grey metal color next to grey paint doesnt look all that worn out as a grey patch between yellow and blue lol.
Would buy if it was available in cash shop. Now before the extremists come in again, as I said, I don't even want assembly line stuff, but something a tad less worn out :D
Really interested in seeing what all they will put in the cash shop. I'm not concerned about pay2win really, the only thing really is if they put camos only to cash shop. In modern engine shooters, people with proper camo are extremely hard to see (at least in BF3), but overall I'm still not that concerned. Most of the people who dont want to be seen will have a cloak anyways :D

Keep in mind there probably will still be an optional subscription, so there's some income already. Add to that things like character slots or experience boosts and there's some more before you even get to purely aesthetic items.

Experience boosts are probably going to be there. I hope they don't sell CERT boosts and keep those time based.
How about weapon/armor customization? You know how in Team Fortress 2 you can spend money to name your weapon. In Planetside 2 if I found an assault rifle or pistol I really, really liked I'd spend $2 to name it something and keep it as my own.
Weapons. So long as you can acquire them in the game, I'd spend $5 on a weapon that suited me. Didn't Planetside 1 have a firing range where you could try out CERTS before you bought them? They could do the same thing here in Planetside 2. Try out different guns before you buy them.
Resource boost. Getting a resource boost would allow a player to receive a higher allocation of resources from their Empire.
Vehicle customization. Paint jobs for different vehicles. Or how about the ability to add decals to them. You know how in WWI and WWII pilots would add crosses, or any other kind of markings to show how many enemy pilots they've shot down? Maybe something similar to that for players to show their achievements on their vehicles.
Outfit specific unlocks. The ability to spend a bit more to unlock customizations that applies to your whole outfit. So say there's a cool armor design or vehicle paint job, what if an Outfit leader could spend a little more money and the entire Outfit gets access to that look. That would be pretty cool.
Research and Development. Here's one that could be part interesting and part controversial. Call this the substitute for a subscription. What if you could throw down money at any time for a particular faction. You could spend as much as you want, you could do $1 or you could do $100 if you really wanted to. Have it so that the Empire that gets the most money gets access to new content first for a limited time. Like say the goal is $10,000. The first Empire to $10,000 gets access to a new vehicle for a week or two before the other two Empires.
That last one could be game breaking but hey, it's an idea.

Probably 90% of the information in this game is being withheld lol.
Edit: Ok maybe 90% is an exaggeration. But we really have no way of knowing just how much is left to reveal. But I'd say we've seen less then half for sure

PS2 has a lot of things you could buy customization for. There is your armor, your weapon, your, vehicle and they will have several versions of each. What is is 7 classes, 20 weapons, 12 vehicles. Then if they brake armor down into pieces that's even more. The problem won't be running out of things to customize, but trying to fill up all these items a suitable amount of it.

Given that they said they they like the LoL model and they said resources would be the currency in game while Station cash would be your shortcut route i imagine every major weapon and vehicle alteration would be up for sale. plus cosmetic items, there willbe a benefit for subbing, im sure.
