Will there be an appropriate, useful role for people who truly enjoy playing "support" as in not the front line fighter, but the driver, the ANT guy, the Gal pilot, all those things together, the person who just wants to support the fighters on the front ranks in whatever way he can? Will this playstyle be truly viable and useful, or will those who want support to be their primary task simply have to find an outfit that will allow them to function in that capacity?

Such as Bases in the middle of cities for example. I'm thinking like Grand Bazaar, Seine Crossing, Strike at Karkand from BF3. Camp Gibraltar or Fall of Berlin from BF: 2142. Proper dense urban environments that are not base courtyards?

Can you please expound on the availability, usage and cert trees for Assault Rifles? Specifically:
Which classes can use the "Standard" assault rifle (as opposed to, say, a carbine), either at the start or as an unlock
If players wearing Rexo-equivalent armour can have a primary rifle-sized weapon (HA/AV/SA) and still carry an assault rifle or one of its variants as a backup weapon
If weapon unlocks will be usable cross-class; so if, for example, I unlock a scope I can equip a rifle with said scope whether I'm playing as an Engie, Light Assault, or Heavy Assault - even if, say, the engie would only get a carbine to put the scope on (unless he can unlock the "standard" AR, that is... :cool: )

Skeeter max speed is 119 kph in PS1, 287 kph with afterburner. That is still an answer it'd be interesting to hear the official word on, but at the very least at the time they shot that trailer they were going for ~200 kph presumably not-afterburner speed for fighters.

1. I started playing planetside in Europe because that is were i was working for the military. All my friends are on the server in Europe. Will i still be able to play with them and not see alot of lag issues and disconnects due to distance.
2. Will i be able to see my stants by typing in my charactor name in google like i can do now.
3. And one of the most common and probably most asked is WHEN IS BETA :)

There are NO BFR's
There are Max's but not the same thing.
Also there are plenty of land features close enough to be caves that you will be able to fight in.

- No Planetside-style caves, made of gigantic crystals and zip-lines.
- What PS2 mechs?
- AT as in Ancient Tech. Maelstroms, Routers and Spikers, along with the things Canaris already mentioned.

They're MAXs, not mechs. They're barely a foot larger than a soldier and can fit inside bases.
Edit: Damn you guys are fast. To clarify, MAXs are exo-armour, like Terminator armour in Warhammer 40k.

ANNWN was the single best place in PlanetSide to have infantry fights; all the battles took place well out of reach of ground vehicles and the turrets everywhere meant you could deal with mossies easily. It's just the learning curve was a bit difficult, but I had the whole lattice of zip wires memorized and man were there some great memories :L
Hell is definitely Ishundar. Large uninspiring rock and battles were on there all the friggin time it got dull. Solsar was much better, it had an oasis-ey feel to it, Ishundar was just red red rock everywhere -.-

Usually the VS have Tore, so they can float right across the water. At least it makes the bridge tolerable. Though the Bridge of Ceryshen is a long one too that you cant just float over.

Ceryshen is indisputed Hell. The whole place is very high above sea level, air transportation is sometimes useless just from terrain, ground transport is sometimes useless because of terrain. It's a true icy hell where losing your AMS kills your entire offensive because the closest tower is 4 clicks away and on the other side of a deep chasm.

If I get one question for Higby, I will go with: How do you envision multi-crew vehicles being used in comparison to their single-crew counterparts?
-For example: Are you aiming to have the secondary seats usually be filled, do you intend for there to be the sort of power<->independence tradeoff that PS1 had, or do the multi-crew vehicles function as sort of an upgrade from the single crew variants in being mostly functional with a single person, Battlefield style?
If I had one question for T-Ray, on the other hand: Why is the Lib so clearly designed by the NC? :p

How in depth is the mission system, will it be detailed enough to allow leaders to post missions with specific requests? I.E. an infantry unit leader posting a mission for transportation to a specific location and once completed, would give the pilot/driver tangible rewards? Or perhaps a deticated gal pilot posting requests for an air escort.
Essentially, will it allow players to shore up their units and efforts by using the mission system thus creating a true sense of combined arms gameplay?
Id just like know more about missions, how they work, who's allowed to post them, what rewards they give, etc.
More than one question but its a topic I'm very curious about.

They said the Sundy will have resupply/rearm capabilities like the Lodestar did, so I think that means vehicles can run out of ammo. And I'm sure there will be a way to do it at a base as well.

i still would like to know about restrictions on galaxy deployment!
will a deployed gal produce a deployment-restriction sphere of influence like the ams did?
if so, will the restriction be applied to sunderers as well or will we be able to setup a gal and sundi right next to each other so the gal will be healed by the sundi´s loadstar-ability?
and if a restriction is in place will we be able to see it this time? it was so fucking annoying to find a space to deploy for an ams when other ams´s were around and with a fat aircraft that has to take off and land everytime it wants to relocate, this will even be more annoying

I would like to ask about beta acceptance. I just discovered the Planetside universe a month or so ago while looking through a most anticipated games of 2012 list. I've checked out some videos of the original planetside and have been scouring the net for anything related to PS2. I"m super exited about PS2 because it seems like it perfectly fits into the gametype that I have been looking for and seems like the design team really knows what they are doing.
So basically the question is:
When I signed up for the beta I saw where it says original Planetside players will be among the first in. I was curious about how many new players will be accepted, or what the chances are for a completely new player like myself to get in on the beta?

Concerning VTOL/Winged flight models. Best guess speculation suggests that it will consist of switchable modes, is this true and if so where along the spectrum of completely automated, to pilot freely controlling everything, would the current model be?

Heres an easy one, reloading. Will it be:
Arcade style, meaning every time you reload it takes the number of rounds out of your existing capacity to reload your magazine and ignores the round in the chamber. This would be as if all rounds in your inventory are treated as loose and loaded into the magazine currently on the weapon one at a time, but displayed as a magazine swap.
Realistic, meaning if you reload a weapon with 12 rounds left you'll now have a 12 round magazine in your inventory when you expend the others (spamming the reload key results an an inventory full of half full magazines). Reloading in the middle of a magazine would also result in your weapons capacity being the magazine capacity +1 round (already in the chamber).
Also, since the word magazine seems to spark confusion in a lot of gaming types: (the image isn't my work, please excuse the vague smartassness of it.)

Is there a training centre like there was in PS1, that will allow you to try every weapon and vehicles before committing to it ? or will this not be necessary.
How do aircrafts handle? Are there any games that have similar flight mechanics for instance BF3 the jet or helly.

Can you give us a bit more information about how Command Ranks are going to work? I understand there will be some sort of 'squad leadership' tree; what will that tree give access to? EMPs? OSes? /comXX's and /comall equivalents? Missions? Are any branches of the tree mutually exclusive? (A "you can have an OS, or you can Global, but not both" sorta thing)
Also will there still be a /command channel for command ranks, and will everyone who is (the equivalent of) CR5 still have access to it? While sometimes spammy; the /c channel gave veteran players a place to discuss empire-wide issues very conveniently, and was a valuable resource that I don't think should require certs to gain access...
Pretend that's all one question...

Do they have currently unused Code like Vehicle or Weapon Models from PS1 in the Client like some other Games have which they could use at a later Point?
For Example Starcraft 2 has all Starcraft 1 Units in its Code. Tribes Ascend has all Weapons from Previous Games of the Tribes Universe...

Can or must you conquer spawnpoints for your own use inside enemy bases and is a base captured in sections, or is there just a single capture point and time like in PS1?

Will maxes will be able to auto run?
Can all types of CE be placed in enemy SOIs?
Can we bind to a deployed galaxy just like we could bind to an AMS?
