Maybe that's one of the sanctuaries? If not, very interesting.

You can see a force dome around the base in this screenshot too:

In the The9 video as well as that screenshot, you can also see force fields around entrances.

A base now has several sections, and you take them one by one. Thats what i remember on the top of my head about this. They said something like this in the past.

Yeah, there's been alot of base pictures showing force domes, although not all of them. There's also shields inside the bases like between the courtyards like the shields in PS1. I'm kind of thinking it might have something to do with bases having multiple shield generators that you have to take out in order to open up the base. So this would make taking a base more complex with more layers and not simply taking 1 CC or dropping 1 Gen.

Less reaver spam in bases ?

Yea, you can see in the 9 video, when the skeeter is chasing the reaver at around 55 seconds, you can see 2 objectives:
Defended the gate shield generator
defend the control console
you would have to imagine the gate shield generate is outside.
while not the same as the force dome im imagine you can take it down in a similar fashion or take it down by bombardment perhaps.
Did he scramble his desktop? lol
I ♥ domes.

If I were a TR admiral, I'd kick the base designer who put the generator for a shielded section outside of the shielded section. Twice.
Anyway, as I mused in the other thread, shield pop- in and out abuse by vehicles/infantry? Flails won't be in, but I can imagine aircav in specifically AB'ing over a wall into the safety of a shield.
Would it be best if any infantry (maybe even Sunderers?) can move through these, but larger objects cannot?

I image infantry would be able to pass through them, much like base AT shields, the concept behind the domes though could be to force an infantry courtyard fight without vehicles. There was a shield over what appeared to be a tower door too, so eliminating vehicles from camping doors is looking like something they're interested in.
It could also mean that the base needs to be taken in sections, control one courtyard sector and the next section unlocks...yea poor base design...but its a video game.

So we would be looking at BFR type shields here really: small arms fire and infantry can pass through, bigger stuff can't.

Of course. :)
Still... :D
"Sir, they are attacking our shield generator!"
"WHAT!? How could they get through the shields!?"
"...they kinda didn't!"
"Then how!?"
"Well see, uhm... well the generator is not in the shielded section of the base."
"...don't tell me it is in the inner ring?"
"Well, no. I mean, sorta."
"It's near the gate isn't it?"
"...N... I mean, yes." :(
*facepalm*
"The Republic is doomed."
(Yes, yes it is! NC FOREVER!).

This seems like a general base things and not a capitol thing. Capitols always seemed retarded though, so I hope every base in PS2 isn't like attacking an interlink on an island with a giant shield that can't be orb'd even after it's down...

I agree with the view of the sectioned CY. But I don't think they will operate on the BFR principle, or at least, I hope not.
I envision the shield domes' purpose as helping maintain the CY to be a safe place for vehicles, and maybe jamming enemy radar moreso than just being a force dome: it's not that enemy vehicles and projectiles can't enter a shield dome, but more along the lines that if they do, their electronics get fucked up, like an EMP blast, except it maybe even goes so far as to ground enemy aircraft (not just silence their weapons). Naturally, human beings not being so susceptible to electronic interference won't have those issues so infantry can enter and shoot projectile weapons without any problems. Obviously bullets and other dumb projectiles fired from tanks or aircraft would be fine, but any kind of guided stuff (such as air-to-air missles or phoenix launchers, or VS weaponry where the plasma has to be actively shaped, i.e. a lancer) won't work until the shield generator is disabled. So in order to have the galaxy deployed in the CY and letting people spawn, you need to first have the shield off. Could you cap a base with it on? Probably, but it would make it more difficult, and strategically makes sense to disable it first.
Such a concept isn't very far different from the modern day EMI-shielded buildings and signal jammers frequently used by FBI and CIA, and more recently, drug cartels and American high schools to block cell phone reception in specific areas or buildings (it also means no spy bugs can operate properly).
