Will we be able to bind to a deployed galaxy in PS2 just like we could bind to an AMS in PS1?

Pretty sure ... no, no and no. ;)
And by pretty sure you mean you're speaking out of your ass, right?

This is a must.
And along the same lines... there needs to be something exclusive to squad/platoon/outfit that members can bind/spawn to. Not necessarily the galaxy, but some kind of upgrade or engineer deployable.

It's been asked, never answered, and I'm not sure if binding (even to bases) has been mentioned by a Dev.

I need to know this as well because I am planning something very secret involving Galaxies and binding to them and then spawning at them once they are deployed across the map but that's all I can say for now.

Why would you want to?
They stated that you will be able to spawn anywhere. This includes any and all deployed gals.

I'm a fairly new player (started 2010 and only played on/off some months), so could anyone explain what use did the binding provide?
Like, why not just use the map to spawn to the same AMS that you would bind yourself to? I never quite understood it.

Because you could only spawn at -
Closest AMS
Closest Tower
Closest Base
Sancuary.
Or the one place you are bound to.
Binding to an AMS near the closest base's Vech Terminal was pretty useful. Had a few other uses.

Well that's not nice. All I did was answer his three questions albeit in a short form.
To answer your question, no I was not 'talking out my my ass', neither literally nor metaphorically.

What Shade said, but also, if you bound to an AMS and you and a Router went off to sit out of nearest-spawnpoint-range of a zerg, you could deploy, set up Router quietly without Penix users giving away your position, then have everyone spawn at your Router/AMS at the same time and take out an enemy base without the AMS/Router ever having been in extreme danger of being discovered early beyond the random border patrols.
It could also be used to spawn to a base or AMS on the far side of the continent. As Shade mentioned, especially around certain vehicle pads would safe you a lot of travelling time.

Say you are TR and the NC have captured Ghanon on Hossin, but NC also have a link to Naum on the other side of the continent via a cave link.
You don't want the NC to capture Naum as it's connected to the cave and therefore cave bennies mske the base very difficult to catpure back *base shields / 20% extra health etc).
So, what you do is go to Naum. You set up CE which acts as alarm bells (hopefully) and you bind at the base. Then you go fight at Ghanon.
If you see hotspots at Naum you know to immediately spawn there.
A variation would be to hide an ams near Naum and bind at that, just in case the spawns are destroyed before you could get there.
A further variation would be to set it as your platoon home base and get all your platoon to spawn there.

I actually came up with the idea of returning the Phantasm as a Squad/Platoon/Outfit spawn. Its smaller, cloaked, faster with less armor and no guns. But it could act as a spawn point for outfit/squad OPs without drawing greenies who will reveal the location of your Phant. Though I'm not sure if it should also have an equipment term or not, considering you can spawn in your load out now. And during ops you don't always get to return to your spawn just to resupply.
I think it could work out well as a secondary spawn vehicle for outfits and other Spec Ops type players.

Seriously. We're talking super high level strategy here. On a game that's still mostly secret.
This is CIA level shit.

In practice few players continued using the Phantasm once the novelty wore off as the benefits of using mossies/reavers were far greater. However judging from the new class based system and cert limitations, the Phantasm could prove to be a valuable asset for the spec ops types.

The Terran Republic Intelligance Organization(TRIO) is already on top of everything.
I had no idea the acronym would become Trio, awesome.
From henceforth, TR intelligence is referred to as TRIO

You just want to keep him close to your chest and keep that secret 70s disco party Galaxy to yourself! Admit it! D:

I love the Phantasm personally. It is the fastest aircraft in the game (at cruise, mossy and wasp have faster Afterburners, but Phant has a larger AB pool), stealthier and can drop 4 fully Rexo'd soldiers and the pilot if he drops. Its great for outfits and specops. Its got enough armor that it can even clear out Spits without making hotspots if you ram them. XD
I think it would be an excellent solution for those PS2 players who want to do Behind the lines, smaller scale special ops. Even if they totally revamp it, its cloaking ability alone makes it a huge asset to Spec Ops.
