Well we don't know for use what classes there will be but I'll take a guess.
Vote for the class your looking forward to the most
You can pick more then one ;)
Edit:
Leadership not a class all class can be leadership but it's more of a role.
Also there's the drivers role
Thinking more about it:
There will be 4 classes
Standard assault
Heavy assault
Cloaker suit
Max
But you will have to pick a role?
Let's say you picked Standard you would have roles to pick from like jump jet or medic ect

Yeah... no way to know yet. I doubt there will be that many different classes though.

Hmmh, has it been mentioned that leadership would be it's own class? Somehow I'd figure that leader would be more cert based thing, while the leader can be any class.
Probably heavy/standard/jumpjet assault mostly.

This, it was stated that leadership is not going to be a class but only a part of the skill tree.
Yet again that will force you to put your class advancement on hold to level the thing up, so it IS a relevant poll option from such point of view.
My answers are medic & sniper. The 1st is for teamwork, the 2nd is for myself.

Cloaker + sniper = 1 class.
Leadership is no class (but has own tree), can be used with any class.
dont think there will be standart assault
for me its AV all the way. Thats heavy assault i think.
Edit: and i dont see Driver class. is there one or anybody can drive?

Ahh yea I rember someone saying all classes can be leadership
Well, if you cert leadership you'll be giving up other certs for a while, so it's kind of its own class.

Well there's also a drivers cert tree but should of put that in its the same as leadership class
If hamma wanta add it in there ;)
I think cloaker class will not have the main sniper rifle like the Bolt driver by it will have a gauss with range; inthink sniper is not a class but a cert tree but its a role whats like a class

I'm excited to see what they've done with sniping, cloaking and leadership the most (really hoping command chat makes a return), but it could turn out they've done something that sways me toward a class I really didn't expect to be interested in.

I"d assume Heavy Assault since that's the role I generally favor in PS, fighting in the frontline killing people. But I'll possibly play whichever class allows you to pilot vehicles, not sure if Heavy Assaults can pilot a Scythe per se.
I also might get into Cloaking. Whenever I go back and watch old Planetside videos and the crazy stuff they get away with it always makes me want to go cloaking.

Heavy Assault and MAX for me baby then maybe dabble a bit in medic because the Adv Rez from PS1 was a must have. Don't know if its in PS2 with the new spawning mechanisms and TTKs but everyone loves a medic.

Medic all the way!
I'm not the best marksman when it comes down to it, and in Planetside I was a self proclaimed combat medic. I'm super stoked at the possibility of molding my character into a fully fledged medic class with all the garnishes and trimmings.
So, i'm also very anxiously awaiting info on how and what will be available, modified uniform (medic decal) ability to track / see downed troops around me, rezzing, etc...

Tough to say.
I'm a big fan of cloaking in general but I need to see how it works in this game.

I love playing Medics (TF2/GA) but it might be weird in PS2. Sticking with my old standby, Heavy Assault and Cloaker.

I tend to like regular assault rifles or marksman rifles, don't like bolt-action snipers or heavy weapons...but I might like an LMG. Probably do some of everything depending on how I feel.
So a medium/light weight class, probably. After that it depends entirely on what's available in that class and what the certs actually do.
I can see training leadership heavily if it's worthwhile for squadmates.

I don't know yet. Its still up in the air for me. I'm gonna need to look at all the classes first. But since where throwing something out there. What ever class has Adv Rexo and some form of Infiltrator. Probably sniper.

Heavy Assault/MAX unit.
I heard somewhere you have to specialize in Heavy to even use a MAX.

Which class is best for that?

If your gonna be flying a lot then its probably gonna be standard assault for you. This is assuming they keep the same armor restrictions they had in PS1.

I'm gonna be a max. On my second character I'll be HA. Then on my third I'll be an engineer. Heavy armor is my motto ;)

Is 2 months old considered a Necro? Anyway...it would be nice to see an update of this poll posted with the proper class names after MAX week is over.

Can we just play the game first?

I'd like to play the game first, but the beta won't arrive no matter how long I'm away from the forums, so back to speculationside it is.
From what I saw of the GDC footage, it looks like jump jetting will be a lot of fun. I always tended to prefer light armor in Tribes 2 and now in Ascend, and even in Planetside I often stuck to agile (although that was mainly because rexo couldn't pilot an aircraft).
I think I'll mostly be sticking to the skies, be it in a Scythe or with Light Assault's jump pack.
All of the classes sound like they will interest me enough to get some attention.

There's more than a few classes I'm interested in, but the one thing I'm gonna specialize in is leadership. Quite frankly, there's nothing I enjoy more in this game than leading a squad of effective combatants to victory or at least to some kind of tangible, achievable goal.
My proudest accomplishments in Planetside were the times I managed to break a stalemate and change the face of the map. Usually it's by hitting the base no one else will hit, or the one the zerg cannot take because it's always easily repelled, whereas a smaller force tends to go unnoticed by the enemy zerg. Almost always it's the fight that looks boring at first glance, but it usually turns into a good, small, fun fight.
Every cert that helps me manage my squad, that strengthens my squad, or gives me the tools to move my empire in the direction of success, I will cert it. My class is secondary to my job as a commander.

Engineer clenched its nanite-powered claw around my heart the instant they announced "deployable manned turret." I may also take a MAX for a spin on occasion, but my heart belongs to driving a Sundy and erecting and manning defenses at strongpoints. I'll take my squad to its destination, get out, and draw a line in the sand, so I can dare people to cross it.

since every class, vehicle and weapon will be unlocked right from the start, i think most players will get used to switch a lot.
the all time one class players will be the minority because we CAN switch to anything at any time and we have to react to the actual situations.
in ps1 we sticked to one or two roles because we had to certify and were limited.
so i guess the poll would be more accurate if it had only 3 options. infantry, vehicle or support.
but those choices will change as soon as beta kicks in. we chose on our preference and experience with ps1 and nobody knows if the classes feel anything like they did in the original.
