In your back, is my Jack!

Discuss the heavy weapons shift of the Chaingun, Lasher, and the Jackhammer!

Nothing to discuss, really. I was always against those. =P

Heavy, suppressing fire, huge clip, spray and pray shotgun?
All that is same as other ES heavy guns, only thing im not sure if will be still shotgun. It would be like having pocket scatmax.

I never really used them myself, and probably still won't. I'm more a fan of range and accuracy. Might go with the LMG version of the rifles as opposed to the heavy weapons.

Having said that.. Gatling shotgun? Sounds pretty boss.

Jackhammer is a hip mounted shotgun.

All I can say is: Holy shit.

here's a question. We know guns have bullet drop and stuff, but do shotguns follow that rule to the same degree or would it be like some games where the bullets disappear after traveling a few meters?

I think the idea of a hip wielded shotgun as deadly. Seems like a hell of a gun.

Can't wait to see these heavy assault guns in action.

For realism and simpleness' sake, I hope they just disappear past the effective range. At the point where pellets start dropping they wouldn't cause any damage to anything thicker than paper anyways.

At least, not modern shotgun shells. PS2 is futuristic, anything is possible.

In an ideal world where computing power limits weren't an issue, I'd love to hear the tinking and raking sounds of missed pellets pounding harmlessly against metal, glass, water, concrete, or whatever else it ends up landing on. There are better uses for those computing resources, however.

Some of you have noted the auto-shotty like capabilities of the Jackhammer.

I'm now imagining in my head a triple barrel gatling shotgun firing slug ammo.

Having missed out on whatever weapons questionnaire happened today, is the jackhammer still a shotgun or is it what T-Ray posted on twitter a while back? Looked like a mini chain gun or some rail gun.

What you are referring to had no "chain gun" barrels, they were magnets.

Yeah that's what I thought, couldn't see any holes -- looked like a rail gun and fits the NC. Just didn't want to imply or exclude any possibilities. :) That being said; is that what the jack hammer is? If so very excited to find out what projectiles that mac daddy fires off. :groovy:

Im thinking something like a shrapnel cannon blasted from the hip. Wide COF, does a fair bit of splat, damage trails off rapidly over a certain distance. BOOM! :groovy:

Though it wouldn't surprise me if they did it as a mega-nail gun just to bring the role closer in functional range to the lasher/mcg

seems like a weaponized nail driver

It will probably have a multifunction head like the scatterMAX. Atleast i hope so, i hate to think of 20 NC rushing at me with full automated shotguns indoors. Theres no way chainguns could compete with that.

Im interested to hear news on the Lasher, the fact that its still got the same name is abit worrying. Rather than something more deadly like the Spectrum, which shoots at the speed of light through all materials. The lasher makes it sound like something a friendly dog would do to a fire hydrant.

Im hoping the Lasher is more like the Maelstrom, Sustained beam. Maybe with different settings for cone like close range, or beam like medium range.

If the Jackhammer is back, and this is the jackhammer, I fear the Jackhammer.

Jesus that looks good, everyone loves giant Red buttons that inflict death. haha

I understand that the pertruding bits on the barrel are magnets, so its not actually a chaingun, its a railgun. But it looks a little too similar if you ask me.

I want a big blunt end on that thing, so i know if i get in front of it i am going to be blugeoned to death. (P.s. i have no intension of playing NC, this is just the masachist in me).

Poses an interesting question though, if quick knife is included, like they say it is. Fair enough with a rifle, but how would you use it with that weapon? Get out the weight bearing tripod and ask the enemy to stand still for a moment?

Yeah they're magnets that propel (hopefully one big fat slow RoF projectile that hurts as nasty as that thing looks) Can. Not. Wait.
