I know this is not the right forum, but this will be most seen here. I have been visiting PSU for many, many years and I want Hamma and Jennyboo to know that I really appreciate them hanging in there all these years. I had the pleasure of meeting them in Vegas last year and they are really nice kids. I know it costs money to run a website, so to show my appreciation I am making a Paypal donation and I remind everyone that if you can, please contribute too. Anything helps.

Awesome. Honestly, I live good, but am not rich. But I know that my $20 helps with their investment that soo many enjoy. I everyone on this board gave just half that much, and I know that is a lot to ask, so even $1-5, it would have a huge impact on them. Hell, When will "Hamma Time" produce some offspring?!?

I've marked folks who donated in the past week or so. Be sure to use either your forum e-mail account or include your forum name in the notes so I know who to mark. You will also show up here:
http://www.planetside-universe.com/ps/supporters.php
And get a fancy http://www.planetside-universe.com/forums/images/misc/contributor.gif above your posts. If you donate 100 or more you get a fancy gold name and this on your posts. http://www.planetside-universe.com/forums/images/misc/contributor_100.gif. If I recall correctly it also allows you to see post counts.

My forum name is in yellow as a contributor but it's not on that list... not unless it's one of the unlinked white names (my first name).

You may have donated before we made that page. I went through PayPal and found your donation way back in 04 :D
Your name is incorrectly marked as gold.. but it's been that way so long I will just leave it.

I spend as much time here as I probably will in PS2. Might as well contribute something.
And take it as a bribe to overlook some of my past bad behavior :P.

They broke the paypal tracker when they upgraded the website. So it is all manual now.

Hey, now, I'm 28, not 90! :p
When I met Hamma and Jenny in Orlando some 6 or 7 years ago, I was a skinny college kid with a scraggly goatee that could hardly scrape together the money for a plane ticket.
Now I'm a skinny father with a scraggly goatee and a child who is nearly 4, a beautiful fiancee, my dream job, and I'm about to close on a house in the most affluent neighborhood in New York state.
And it's all thanks to PlanetSide Universe! Okay, maybe not really, but you should still donate!
There was a time, only a couple years ago, when PS subscriptions were sagging and this website was like a ghost town. I saw days pass without a new topic being posted. Threads with weeks between posts on the first page. However Hamma and Jenny kept hosting the site, though they worried they might have to shut it down because of the expense. A bunch of us vets rallied to see PSU live on, and it was not that long after that the first whispers of PS2 started to be heard.
It gave us all hope, and when the official announcements started rolling in, Hamma kicked it up a notch, got the website redesigned and the news reel going again. Hamma, Jennyboo, Gryphon, Marsman and the other site staff really deserve some mad props from this community.
I can't even post in some of the threads on this forum without seeing several more posts made during the time it took to type my own... and it brings old memories back of some of the great ideas and debates we had here the better part of a decade ago.
Good times, good times. :)

Oh sorry I calculated that you're 8 x 4 = 32. Just teasing anyway, you're not much older then me. Anyway congratz for making it in your life! :)

Excellent reminder.
I never donated in the PS1 years due to my lack of affluence as a young nipper. Or so I told myself at the time. Anyway I just corrected this to the modest tune of $20.
This transaction will appear on your statement as PayPal *SHAMMER.
That's sufficiently close to SCAMMER in hamming distance that my brain did a weird panic when I read that. ;)
Keep up the good work guys!

Yeah I rounded down to 7 years. Still quite a while.
And I didn't really mean to grandstand, just an attempt to illustrate how much has happened in that time. :)

Haha just whatever you do, don't call Hamma by his first name. :p I dunno why, I think it's an awesome name.

These days yes - PSU is much cheaper to run now than it was 9 years ago. Bandwidth and services are much cheaper now.
It does help us make better AGN broadcasts though for sure.

Hah ok. I've never had as much traffic as you are getting now through the site with all the pre PS2 buzz. Was curious to see how much of a problem that was. :D
Cheap or not, 9 years is a lot of time for hosting fees to add up. :groovy:

I wouldn't mind, I'm very humbled by Hamma's dedication to Planetside and the community. To keep this place going even when the game was way past it's glory years and shifted from sight into a small corner of the intrawebz.
Even when there wasn't any Planetside 2 on the horizon, this place was still a beacon. I've seen many fansites vanish into history but the one port of call that was constant was PSU.
