View Full Version : PS1 vehicles you'd like to see added post-launch?

We know not all the vehicles in PS1 are making the cut for PS2, but that doesn't necessarily mean they won't be added at a later date post-launch. What vehicle/'s would you most like to see added to PS2 next?

We don't know for sure what hasn't made the cut yet, but I think we've got:

Switchblade
Wraith
Enforcer/Marauder/Thresher/Harasser
Skyguard
Flail
Thunderer/Raider/Aurora
AMS
Router
Lodestar
Phantasm

Because of the 10-option limit to the poll I included the Harasser with the buggies and removed the wasp, assuming that its weapons will just be created as a customization option if they ever want to implement it.

Vote for the one you'd MOST like to see.

It'll never happen, but I love the AMS.

I'd like the AMS back too in some sort of role, more support/team play oriented stuff.

But also, buggies for the win.

Buggies for me if it can be determined to add to game play once it finally launches. I'd rather the devs avoid adding in something that will only be fodder for AV troops and AIR/heavy vehicles.

We know buggies are coming back.

I voted for AMS, I found their reason for removing it ("the drive was boring" ) very poor.

Also anyone who votes for flail will find my hand coming out of their screen and slapping their face, hard.

I went with the Phantasm. It was an excellent addition late in PlanetSide's life for me. Liked scouting around unseen, hovering above the battle, dropping off and rescuing troops right behind the enemy :p

Yeah, AMS would be my second choice.

Who ever said the drive was boring anyway? And if they still felt it was, they could have just added in decent wheels/suspension for terrain and increased its top speed and maneuverability to something like a buggy -.-

I misred the question, deduct a vote from Lodestar...

I vote for buggies instead

The AMS has been replaced with something much better.

I voted for vehicles that can shoot or transport people. Vehicles that are actually fun to play with.

EDIT:
They never said the 'drive' was the boring part of the AMS. They said you drove it and parked it, and that was the end of the vehicle part of it.

And? still a poor reason to take it out. Shock, horror! a good chunk of people liked doing that kind of stuff.

You still can do that kinda stuff... with a better, more interactive and interesting vehicle.

No offense to the galaxy but coming in to land in a giant blimp isnt exactly inconspicuous.

Exactly. It'll start a big fight which facilitates the entire reason we play shooters.

Just think of the expanded gameplay this new Galaxy offers.

Drop a load of people off > Land and deploy > respawn some people > pick them up for another drop > repeat.

That is only one scenario. You couldn't do anything even 1/16 as cool as that with an AMS.

I have nothing against galaxy AMS, just seeing no good reason to take out the original AMS.

I was out around the BD of the dropship center on Ish a few months ago looking for a Phantasm I heard buzzing around near the ground. That was a bad choice as nearly a platoon of GoTR popped out of multiple Phantasms. Needless to say I screamed like I little girl.

Buggies, because I think most of the other vehicles are either too gimmicky (router, phantasm) or already have their role in PS2 (AMS with the Gal, others with mods to other vehicles). Light troop transport is a must if you're fighting outside of a base and need to get a few guys to a tower or other stronghold out in the middle of nowhere. Riding over some dunes in a buggy would always be fun too.

I voted buggies because I prefer combat capabilities to combat support. *BUT* if I had two votes the second vote would be the AMS, hands down, no question.

Can we have two votes?

First off the lightning pretty much fills in the Skyguard role, they've said it will be the best mobile AA. It also seems like it will closely fill the assault buggy role.

Honestly PS1 became flooded with too many vehicles. I'd rather stick with what seems to be their current design philosophy of less vehicles filling more roles. I'd rather see a Sunderer loadout that adds more guns and top speed for less armor, then a whole new vehicle (Deliverer). The Flail (Long range artillery) could be a tank modification (longer barrel, slower rate of fire and speed etc.) They've all ready mentioned possible future Galaxy additions like being able to pick up vehicles.

But I would like to see the Router make an appearance

If you can get Hamma to somehow implement that, sure :p

I'd much rather they went in completely the opposite direction and added more vehicles filling niche roles (unless we're talking about being able to mod a vehicle to the extend it's not even recognisable as the same vehicle). PlanetSide didn't have enough vehicles for me - only 1 type of large battle tank. I'd have been okay with tanks being customisable to a degree to change their style instead of adding more though as is the case with PS2, but if we're talking about a whole new "function", I'd rather they had a dedicated vehicle for that, which is why I don't agree with the AMS Galaxy.

It's lazy to me if anything.

Where is my beautiful ANT... I need my ANT!!!

It's not myyyyy fault, there's only 10 voting options, and I don't know the mechanics behind facility NTU and all that and whether you even collect NTU so I wasn't sure if it'd be obsolete >_>

wait! why is there no BFR in this list?
you included the flail but left out bfr?
srrange...

but the vehicle i want to make a return in some way isn´t listed either... the ANT!
and since the ANT isn´t on the list, i choose the AMS!
second would be the lodestar

Although I would like to try and use the gal for this purpose above at times, most of my missions needed stealth with a cloaked AMS around.

I would like to see AMS Back in the game.

Remember

My play style != Your play style
My fun != Your fun

Will definitely give the Gal a go in beta, looking forward to it.

Yeh i'd like to see the AMS back for these reason, those opposed to cloaked Spawnpoints wouldn't know tactical gameplay if it smacked them in the face.

I think I'm going to miss the teamwork required with 2-or-more person vehicles like the buggies and deliverer variants. Yes, sunderer is awesome, and probably will replace the deli variants in their old role. Still gonna miss my Skyguard.

Also, I would love some awesome field artillery, with a better implementation than the flail.

AMS does seem to promote tactical game play more than the spawn-galaxy, while on the other hand the Gal seems like it'll promote large battles.

I lost count of the times my outfit was able to make desperate ant runs to bases under attack etc, it was a massive part of the game.

PUT THE FUCKING ANT BACK IN

Switchblade: Always something of a vehicle looking for a role, imo. Its turrety-ness will probably be eclipsed by the engineers placeables.

Wraith: ATV is already in game. Cloak can be an upgrade.

Enforcer/Marauder/Thresher/Harasser: Sure, minus the harasser, which was rather superfluous with the other buggies around(and eclipsed by them anyway).

Skyguard: Role easily filled by buggies with changeable weapon loadouts.

Flail: Not much of a fan of arty.

Thunderer/Raider/Aurora: Rather pointless with the sundy around.

AMS: Yeah. Gal is fine, but its a bit of a target. The hidden spawn will be missed.

Router: Yeah

Lodestar: Sort of. I think we'll need a vehicle transport, but it will need something better than a repair aura to make it competitive with the sunderer. Maybe make it a mobile small vehicle spawn.

Phantasm: Maybe.. I don't know if this is really important enough to warrant its own vehicle though. Maybe a lib transport variant that can cloak?
