Well with the latest news from the amazing Weapon Podcast, we found out some very interesting things.

The TR would no longer be the only faction with lock on weapon systems, the VS will retain their fantastic Lancer and that the NC are getting a new missle system akin to the laser guided rocket launcher from half life 2 which I think is pretty kewl can't speak for the NC but you guys have the Higby and I don't think he'd take away the Phoenix without giving you back something excellent.

Yet we don't hear how the TR will be compensated for loosing thier Empire specfic ability.....

Well I decided to look around for a decent replacement. I think I found something we can all agree on, that won't be over powered but will give that "nice!" factor back to the rocket crews.

Based roughly on this, we call it the TR Peacekeeper

We'd make one or two minor alteration, instead of having to paint the target every time it has smart missle that simple launchs into the air, finds it's target and just blows it up!

Bloody fair deal I think........

I'm hoping all get both a guided style of weapon, and a recoilless rifle type weapon.

Empire specific is for the birds.

If what I have read is fact then I believe each faction will get two AV weapons for infantry. One light and one heavy weapon that I am sure will depend on what armor you are wearing. So the VS will have the Fission(a flashy knockoff of the Striker) for their light weapon and the Lancer for their Heavy.

NC has lost the Phoenix but I am sure that their new lock-on style rocket launcher will be heavy and their light will be some sort of unguided system like the devestator which always seemed like a natural NC weapon to me.

TR will probably keep the Striker as a light AV option(hopefully with faster ROF/Missle travel time) and some unknown heavy option. My biggest fear(being a diehard TR player) is that they will give us some sort of shoulder mounted Pounder....which would be horrible. I hope they go for more of a shoulder mounted Auto-Cannon. Less accurate than the Lancer and lower damage per shot, but a good ROF and a small explosive radius would be balanced I think.

You could fire them dumb then lock them on AFTER all five were airborne???

yup the trick shot used to be the only way to kill Mossys and Reavers, now they just see the beep beep and fly away.

I say we go one step further Bigbossmonkey (great name btw) and bring back the 3 shot Styker that could down Reavers with 1 clip, those were the days ;)

Was also the way to kill maxes behind a ridgeline, since the lock on point was just below their waist.

As a starfire operator I abused the hell out of that once the striker could no longer retrack(though my missiles wouldn't retrack either then... :( )

Fine, give all the other Empires tracking, but give TR the only retrack. ;)

I need to be able to hit people with multiple missiles simultaneously!!!

Honestly a Striker Javelin mix would be perfect.. The problem with the striker was it always aimed for feet... Javelin would be the opposite... You would have to choose your launcher wisely.

Fantastic thread title.

I don't think there's going to be a change in mechanics in lock on, the only change that will probably happen is increasing the missile speed. The real question is if MAXs will still be able to be locked onto.
