Anyone else notice that the rear sights are attached to different points of the rail in the 3 most recent pics? Really hope this is a feature that allows you to adjust how the sights look when the gun is shouldered. :)

This PC is rocking SLI GTX 580s which is serious overkill for PS2, but I run at 2560x1600 most of the time... And I have to be able to play the game when there is no optimization done.

only noticed it because it was something I suggested back when T-Ray was asking for attachment suggestions on twitter. :love: The long rails on all the guns were also a tip off.

I can't imagine these screens if you took them with print screen instead of a camera phone.

If 2 580's is serious overkill, how well might one 460 run it? I was considering upgrading but if my current card can run it maxed out then there's no point.

I doubt anything he can tell us at this point will matter, since it hasn't been optimized. Though he told someone a 560 TI would be "bitching", and a 460 is only like 10% slower.

I'm noticing those rectangular bunker like buildings everywhere, especially in bases.


I have some inkling that these are the spawn rooms, and that there can perhaps be multiple ones per base? Am I late to the party? Have they been explained?

Thats very nice. It leaves me to believe theres actual movement of the sun then? As in a flowing shadows affect throughout the game. Dawn has long shadows, noon is highest visibility, dusk, night, ect.. Nice SS.

I looked at this last night with PS_Tray's tweet on the reflex site if you look at that image ( http://yfrog.com/odcvbrtj ) and then pull up the original teaser trailer ( PlanetSide2_h264.mov - YouTube ) and pause that at 0:22 you can compare how much further we have come along with the weapons alone.

At 00:28 what is the TR in the back left doing with his hands? It looks like Buzz Lightyear calling on his wrist radio.
Pausing frame by frame you can see all kinds of cool shit. Looking down from the sky at all the guys fighting, you can see one jump jetting off some rocks while shooting.

So this is an Outpost? Not a tower, not a base, not a field, or a canyon.

I just can't get over how awesome that is, it gives them so much more freedom to make a small village/outpost where ever they want, then slap some bonus resources on it.

There could be certain outposts built into mountains, caves, on a hill, that would be just as much fun to fight for as a "base".

Higby has alluded to this before, if the city ruins are done well it will be truly epic with great building to building CQC.

Edit: Once we start talking more about "Urban Combat" SOE could pull an April fool's joke, make a promotional vid for "Urban Combat". It could be this sweet cave where you can't see anything around you, except these random lazers that bounce around everywhere. No night vision either, and everyone's clip size is doubled!

Thanks for the benchmark Higgles. Many of our clan and the community are considering a tech refresh for those that didn't do one for the Skyrim/BF3 cycle of releases. The expectation in our Clan is that the BF3/Skyrim benchmark for playing on High settings and pulling at least 50fps would be sufficient to handle PS2 graphically speaking and leave the question marks with client stability and latency. We are planning on a comparable system to a SSD OS/PS2 - i5-2500k - 8Gb Ram - 560GTX-ti - @ >/= 1920x1080 - Ping < 105 - 6mb/s ISP as an acceptable baseline for enjoying what you are creating and still min/max'ing in order to Crush! If Bulldozer and Ivy Bridge teams can get their act together and release before GW2 and PS2 go live we could even get a discount before the last stages do a tech refresh.

In addition, way to rep the NC. Someone has to balance out T-Rays Vanu love. I like the wash out by atmosphere effect at distance in order to force the fight in the box of LoS and make range matter.

I just built a new PC a little over a month ago and put a single 560 ti in it (can always add a second down the road for SLI if needed). So far, every game I've thrown at it runs max resolution on ultra-high settings. When combined with SOE's claims that the ForgeLight engine is designed to autoscale down to roughly 5 year-old GPU hardware, then Higby's comments don't surprise me at all.

That's ok, there aren't many people interested in Esamir as it is now.

Then again, if there is winter camo then Esa might be fun indeed with snow, ice and city ruins everywhere.
