View Full Version : Are MAX's in the current build?

Obviously they weren't seen in the GDC coverage, nor have there been any screenshots or much information on them in general with the exception of concept art and their new modular weapon system (Rather than 3 types of MAX, you have one that can load either AA/AV/AP weapons).

The option to select one during the GDC coverage was there, but he didn't mention or use it.
Despite the fact they haven't really said much of anything at all aside from a lot of "We're working on them." and haven't shown them at all, PC Gamer specifically has a wee excerpt on page 51 detailing his experience in using one. Suggesting that MAX's do currently exist in the game.

Anyone have theories or evidence on whether or not MAX's are in the game yet?

Apparently they're saving them for hype.

I guess they're in the game just haven't been shown.

As many have said many times before, please. Control yourself until Beta starts. I assure you that when this previously metioned Beta begins MAX Suits will be present. I didn't see any in a thirty minute demo of which the purpose was the "show everything in alpha", so my assumption is no. Maxes aren't in quite yet.

Still finishing art for the NC and VS MAX, that's why we didn't show them. The TR one is in the game and we've been playtesting with them internally by having retextured TR ones for VS and NC.

Are they implemented with their own characteristics too? So it's literally just the look that's different?

I hope they look close to the concept art that was posted a while back, because that art looked extremely badass. :D

the PR person (i forget her name) said they they are planning to do a big reveal when the maxes are done. Higby also mentioned that the only max they have is the TR one, and that they haven't decided what the VS Max ability is going to be since they gave jump jets to Light Assault.

I figured that the concept art for the TR MAX was relatively easy to translate to a model in game, but the Vanu and especially the NC ones looked incredibly complex in their art, not so surprising they would take a bit longer.

I bet Basti is biting at the damn bit to find out what is VS Max looks like. =) I am too kind of. I almost would think it would be cool to see the VS max have some sort of melee special moved if the art direction has gone as the concept from earlier last year suggests. "You just got OWNED by that MAX's melee hit lulz, and then I ran away screaming."

As for the TR max, yeah im kind of scared of those guns that ive seen floating around.

Considering the weapon effects are a combination of new stuff and placeholder stuff I wouldn't put too much emphasis on what might have looked like a certain weapon in Planetside 1.

Lol awesome.

The PCGamer article talked about using the MAX. The guy said infantry had no problem dancing around him. I'm sure those 24 barrels on a TR max will have a weakness.
