I wonder what it's like to be a Planetside 2 developer or Higby and just looking at the forums seeing people complaining about what they've done with Planetside. Personally, I'm not good with criticism, but I'm assuming (At least I hope) they're used to the extreme criticism, in fact, they probably like it.

Personally, if I was a Planetside 2 developer, this forum would make me feel really crappy about myself. :(

I'm not complaining about people complaining, just trying to empathize with the developers. :)

The thing here is... for every ONE negative comment about the GDC footage there is about TEN positive. Thats a real booster of motivation if I was working on the game.

I don't think that's right at all. The players show them tons of love on here actually and they express their dislikes in a more constructive way instead of blatently trashing on the devs. It's part of their job though because they can't please everyone and they know it so they can't afford to take anything to heart.

They get more love on these forums than hate that's for sure.

I'm not saying that everyone hates what they're doing, I'm just saying that it must feel awful (doubt it, like you said) getting criticized. That's just me.

As far as fan criticism goes, this is pretty light.

Just a few worries as to the direction of the game trying to emulate the success of Call of Duty or Battlefield 3.

Which I can understand. But I think it is less "we want our Battlefield 3" and more "We're taking advantage of modern FPS concepts."

Granted, things like Killcam doesn't work in Planetside but I'm sure they'll figure that out.

Things like Ironsights and Driver-Gunning tanks are great additions. But others will disagree.

This isn't really the case at all. There's no real hate going on here, the people offering criticism are doing so out of care for the game. Every single person that's offered criticism also likes the look of the game, they just want to air their thoughts.

This would be a completely useless resource to the mods if it was just a bunch of brown nosing "WOW THIS LOOKS AMAZING".

They want and need the critical feedback more than the positive.

None of us think the game is going to fail due to a few minor changes.

The Developers know we love the game and love them.


I would go as far to say that they are as much a part of the community as we are. People LOVE planetside, we are really excited and our emotions fly.


There are a million things going great for this game and we've seen it. There's just some controversies which are important to talk about. Even internally they have very similar discussions going on where they attempt to kill each other. But in the end of the day we're all cool.

Most complains for the most part are very coherent and they get their point across. I would HOPE that SOE absorbs all the information and criticism they're getting instead of just blowing it all of assuming we're mad at them or something childish like that.

People are just giving their opinions based on some things they saw and a lot of assumptions.

Some like, some dislike, some say they would like something else even more, etc...

I haven't read a lot of feedback saying "This is junk." without giving at least a reason why they thought so. At least not on PSU.

I'd give you that we do not say to the devs how much we love their work. Maybe us fans logging onto this forum every day eagerly hoping for news from the PS2 team is proof enough that we love their work !

Even if I would hate hate hate a OSOK quick-knife, still dislike driver=gunner, etc... I love PS and I hope I will love PS2 just as much !

I know they should get bad feedback, I'm just saying, "I wonder what it feels like to get criticized by a forum." I know people don't hate the game, and I'm part of the general opinion of the forum that this game is being taken in the right direction (Minus the killcam :) )

I'd hate to be more skeptical, and all the skeptics on this forum are making me skeptical, but I'm sure the game will be fine.

When I say, "What they've done with Planetside" I mean, things they've added and removed, not the whole game itself. (Maybe for some people.)

Those behind T-Ray and Higs need to get more love. You guys, you unsung heroes back there in the office working hard to get this done, you guys are just as AWESOME. I just dont know all of your names to give call outs. You guys are doing such a great job. Keep up the hard work.

You obviously read a different forum than I do. Some "vets" take every modern influence as blasphemy against the dogma of Planetside.
"Kill cam ruining the game", Hating on recoil systems because they're "dumber" than the COF and on.
The inanity of some of the comments is hilarious.

Anyway, I do love all the criticism. I love reading it and seeing it from their point of view. It's just all over the place it almost seems. I know it isn't, but it just stands out more than, say, "Wow, this game is cool." vs. "Okay, here's a huge list of why this game is poopy."

The longer posts in threads are usually the ones criticizing game things, and they stick out more.

That's why I made this thread. Just a thought.

Kill cam and quick knife ARE bad ideas. Anyone who understand the difference between a game like planetside and bf3 would know this. Its a virtual war, not a map where everything resets and average living time is a few seconds.

How would you feel if you were running around trying to stealth some guy you kill sees you after you kill him and knows exactly what area your in. Its bad. Same goes with snipers. I am all for kill cams as long as it auto disables on cloakers and snipers. Another example, how would you feel if you got this SICK awesome sniper spot and some guy you killed knows EXACTLY where your at because he could see your general surrounding and background from your damn killcam?

Wouldnt you be mad? I know I would.

As for quick knife... Im cool with it as long as its on a cooldown of 2-3 minutes and cant be used IN STEALTH and not FRONTALLY.
