Anyone want to take a stab at coming up with new forum icons?

I am referring to things like the new thread icons, unread/read posts and the like. It's pretty close to where it should be but I think it could use a facelift and we didn't quite have the time.

Any takers?

That's kind of what I am looking for. Match them up with the new color scheme. I've only changed a few of the images to match most are still the old icons.

Let me grab the zip file with the icons in there - anyone who gives it a try can just use the dev pack. :)

Actually come to think of it.. it may be easier to just save the images that need tweaking and modify them rather than going with the development kit.

The dev kit icons are SO far out of whack from what we are using it would be a ton of work :lol:

Just a few examples. They didn't look bad enough to warrant spending a ton of time to tweak for release. :)

Yes - mainly you want to make sure they match up with the scheme we have going on so it should include the various colors the layout uses.

Then I'm guessing you'll prefer the white.

You never said which you preferred between the white and orange, so I'll change the orange ones to white if you want, assuming these are even acceptable (I am mentally incapable of judging my own stuff). I can gif them and give them today if they are.

I started on the buttons yesterday. Coming up with a basic font for the report/quote/quick reply stuff. Do you want the reply and new thread buttons reskinned as well?

Edit: Is it possible to give people a different report button depending on whether they're online? If yes, then I could make the online indicator's light affect the report button, like so

Very nice work those icons are badass!! I like the lighter of the two in the top option.

I am unsure on the report button I am pretty sure it's all or nothing there. All of the buttons look great!

Reply/Newthread can be reskinned as well all that I did was change some of the colors.

Moved thread arrows still haven't changed for me, but maybe that's just my end.

Edit: Clearing cache did it. Sorry. I've never had to do that before.

So I'm thinking we need to darken the read posts icon juuuust a bit. It's a little hard to distinguish read vs unread at the moment.

I posted my icons up in a zip but I looked through this and didn't see my message. I think there is something fubar with the HTTPS hamma. Not sure what.

Regardless, the direction you're going with the ones Vancha has done looks excellent! The red is a bit much, but the teal is perfecto.

We will be disabling HTTPS for all but a few pages in the coming release so I wouldn't use it at all times.

As they are now even the ones without the dots are a bit hard for me to tell apart anyway. Any read threads should be slightly darker. That look better :D

The index page still shows icons that are very similar. Determining which individual board has new posts is still an issue.

However, nce I enter the forum I just look for the bold text to indicate which threads have new/unread replies.

My mistake. I wasn't even aware that changed based on posts (I use the "last post" column to see if there's anything new).

I'll make the "read" icon more distinguishable.

Edit: This might be a good point to mention that not all buttons or icons are done yet. :p

Save as, rename it to "forum_old.gif" and throw it in the statusicon folder.

Edit: Though, thinking about it...Maybe you don't even need a forum_old icon. Can you just leave the space blank?

I posted, and thought "what if that still isn't differentiated enough for Firefly?", and then I realized the starkest difference would be having nothing at all...

I'm not THAT hard to please. I can see the difference in the ones that are there now, but it's still difficult to tell unless I look at it for a second. The background behind the PSU logo is what differentiates between it, but the eye focusses on the PSU logo, which doesn't really change much (if it does, it seems grey to white).

A suggestion would be something stark (not like the zero-image), like red to white.
