hacking doors

After looking through the new planetside trailer...carefully...i noticed that is one sceen of a person hacking a door. The hacking device has a red laser coming from it...but it doesn't reach the control panel.....
I just saw another ss of someone hacking a base....the same red laser...
What is this red laser suppose to be?

it is coming from an REK (remote electronics kit?). This is what you use to hack and it fits in a pistol slot. I assume you use it like a pistol.
