This is a sketch of Terran Republic soldiers at a Tech Plant, heading out to the next battle. The galaxy is kind of a mix of the old model and the new model, works for what I wanted anyway. We have the Rexo up in the front left, a light assault talking with a female medic to the right, and a mosquito flying off near the tech plant. Hope everyone likes it, it's called Calm Before The Storm.

Looks much better than last time :D the background being filled in instead of being mostly contour really helped it out.

I got a question... why the hell aren't you like, making a graphic novel already?

Great work man, you certainly have your own style.

That's sweet!

Thanks man! And everyone else who has commented on it, certainly wasn't expecting such a reaction but it's awesome haha.

That's actually a really cool idea. Could probably take the storylines they've posted on Planetside2.com and make some short graphic stories. Though with my job I don't think I'll have enough free time to really get them done how I would like, or flesh out the stories.

Thanks! I'm actually a payroll clerk at the moment. Always wanted to do game development for a living, but after going to school for it things didn't really pan out. I've worked on a few projects, but still trying to find my way over to California.

Nah haha, not trying to hint at anything specific. Just had an idea for a scene I thought would look really cool and decided to give it a shot.

You should talk to SOE about permissions for doing a Kickstarter campaign so we can fund your graphic novel. If you got backed for $20k or $50k in a few weeks, you might be able to work less hours or quit your job and do full time game art.

I can't say for sure how your novel might be integrated with PS2's marketing, but if you start a Kickstarter campaign, definitely post the link here and I'll chip in a healthy amount.

That's pretty awesome man. I love stuff like this. Always inspires me to want to stay creative.

Keep it up as much as your own creativity allows. On the one hand, it makes me want to play PS2 that much more badly, but on the other hand it makes the wait feel that much less unbearable. I community can only benefit from stuff like this. You've definitely got talent and vision.

I too saw this thread title and assumed it was in reference to beta :P

Very nice art style by the way. Gritty future.

People who can properly draw / create visual art never cease to amaze me. I wish my pencil would create that when I used it, but it doesn't (it must be broken).

Sad to know that someone with that sort of talent is stuck behind a desk doing clerical work though. I say harness the amazing power of the interwebs to get your work seen and go for it!

Passion and talent trumps work experience and college in my book (unless you're my surgeon, in which case please have gone to college and have some work experience).

Well thanks everyone for the fantastic comments and support. I don't really know what to say, but I have asked some of the devs what their thoughts were on the idea of a Kickstarter or funded graphic novel for Planetside 2. They liked the idea but I don't know if there are licensing issues, so depending on what they say I'll look into making some graphic novels. :)

that looks really awesome. SOE should hire you to work with Mr. Wolfman so we can get a Comic Book for our Lore.

Well thanks! I'm actually going to try making one page and see how it comes out.

This is great news, I can't wait to see the first page!

If you get the go-ahead from SOE, maybe you can use images from the first page for your Kickstarter page.

Just wanted to give a quick update. Finished the line work and text layout for the page, now coloring and then shading. Hopefully it'll be done tomorrow evening.
