This is another quick made prototype of How the minmap compass should be !
The Bf3 minmap compass is so useless and So anoying when ur in a figth u have to see all 4 cardinal points at least to be able to reply quicly as possible with the most precision possible !
In bf3 this (( one way compass )) is confusing and even more in a firefigth u dont have time to watch to much and calculate in ur own brai where whats whould be etc.. so a 360 angle compass is always the best way to go i dont understand all those one way compass thing ! i never ever use the compass in Bf3 its to useless
Since planetside will depend a way more on orientation ennemies position etc... WE NEED A DECENT 360 angle compass thats really important

From that picture it actually looks good to turn it but in-game I think you would be quite distracted by it?

Ive play some game back in the day with thats same 360 degre compass and its not distrating at all it the best way In the battle to call out ennemie position !
On battlefield 3 it take like years to just notice where the fuck you are ur position or ennemies at so finally you dont even look at it anymore !
Everyone i know feel the same The one way compass or minimap thats only show North side are lame and useless mostly because in the battle there is no time to calculate ok west will be there from the notrh pistion it sould be thats bang its to late !
When u have a 360 compass its clean and clear fast and effcient No mental calculation or bad aproximation !
Many people can say its easy if u have the north u can anticipate the rest but i will say yeah it true if u have time to loose to do it but in figth when u need all ur concentration U dont need another barriere and useless calculation and estimation process !

Any flat scan of a map is going to be flat no matter at what angle you look at it from. Having it rotate and bob and weave and all that jazz is too distracting.
Minimap is a tool for quick orientation and quickly keeping track of various objects like ally and squadmate movements as well as having vehicles and base objectives show up. Nothing much more than that.
As for a minimap rotating based on player orientation, that's a personal opinion and many games I play has that as a toggle option. Unless PS1 didn't have it then there is no reason to see why SOE wont do so as well.

Sorry but the BF3 Compass is useless USELESSS when u need to use the NSEW to call out ennemy position its a way to complex to have to deal with the battle and also having to calculate depending on ur position to call out ennemy shot or anything

Its a way more distractive to me to have to watch my minimap like 10 time to notice where the hell i have to call a shot or wher the hell my friend are trying to call a shot the only thing thats make battlefield to NOT REQUIERED decent compass 360 degre its all because of 3D lame spotting thats make the game Shots on red dot festival Instad of calling ennemys position using NSEW compass and grid maps !
Easy noobish way to proceed and the BF3 compass and ps2 at the moment are by far the worst useless compass ever made !
In battle these one way compass are useless

So, you're basically telling me that you don't know which way is east, if I tell you you're facing north?
I've never had any issue with figuring out where people are on a Battlefield map regardless of the iteration.
Of course, I find that very few people seem to know how to read a map if it doesn't talk them the directions automatically.

Yeah, it takes me a couple of mins to get used to calling targets based on a new style of minimap...
The top setup is ok, perhaps make the N and S bigger than the E or W... or something

What was wrong with Planetsides original Minimap?It was flat. It showed North South East and West right on the map and you could toggle weather the cardinal directions were static or rotating.
Don't fix what isn't broke?

I don't really see the point in this. It's just a "flashy" tilt of the map, I'd get a better view if it was standing strait up like PS1
I can't really understand the OPs issues because I'm betting English is his second language
As far as the rotation that's something you can easily toggle it, and is a matter of personal opinion. It doesn't give any advantage either way, it purely depends on which is easier for you to determine direction.

The main issue is that awful scrolling indicator in bf3, that crap is awful. Its much more intuitive and faster to recognize ones with a circular indicator. Whether or not it rotates with you or not is a minor detail that should just be a simple menu option. And whether or not its 3d-ish or just a simple top down ps1 style view, that is more of a nice thing to have but not nearly as important to gameplay. The main thing is to not have the awful bf3 scrolling indicator, that thing is shyt.

Yeah BF3 as the by far Worst Ui ever created even with the updates

So yeah circular or 4ways compleate compass is the only way to quickly react and call a northeas or south west target etc...
I want a 360 compass ! Thos who say otherswise have probably absloutly 0 knowlege of reconing and calling out ennemies position they just hit Q and a magical dot apear on the freindly screen !
thats lame and 3d spotting in planetside is a way to ridiculous figure out 150 people who see ur dot ur dooms :S SO no way

All the game these day show up north only or show up a one side compass and thats really anoying
If i heard somting on my left i want to be able to quickly watch at my minimap to say I heard shot comming from the south south east !
and not having to calculate myself on so if the north is their the east should be on thats side etc..etc..
