View Full Version : A likely wishful thinking based theory on beta!

Just a thought, but what does SoE have to show for PS2 at E3? Nothing we haven't already seen, right? Not to say that the average consumer has been keeping up, and won't get anything useful from a demonstration there, but here's my "wishful thinking": A stress test/demonstration to start off the beta using priority testers to showcase the game in action on a large scale!
What better to showcase PS2 than the defining factor of this MMOFPS than the massive battles it is built around? Even have a few stations where attendees can get in on the action!
More than likely, we will get the usual gist with a few wee bits and an announcement date for beta...but one can dream eh?

In my opinion, it would be a mistake to demo this game at E3 without there being REALLY high populations playing the game. The main thing this game has going for it is that it is an MMO. It is that aspect along with scale that they need to be showing off at E3.

Exactly! Hence bringing in all the priority beta testers for a special event at E3. To continue showing it with the handful of people they have at the office is to squander a chance to show what makes this game more than battlefield in space.

This is pretty much what most of us are hoping for/dreaming about, but really they have a lot to show, even for us who have followed it more closely.
We got to see a lot of gameplay footage at GDC, but there was a lot we didn't see as well, some of it because it may not have even been finished at the time.
Some potential things we could see:
- more of the driving physics
- the Lightning in motion
- MAXes (if they are completed by then)
- more Infiltrator gameplay
- cockpit footage with the new 3d cockpits
- the Scythe in motion
- more weapons in use, such as infantry AV weapons
- C4 in use
Still images and loose descriptions can only convey so much. There is still a lot for them to show off.
Even if beta doesn't come in time for E3, it's going to be a great showing.
If beta does start, that's just an amazing bonus.
As for people who haven't followed as closely, they may not have even seen the GDC footage, and even if they have seen some of that, it will doubtless be a lot more polished and expansive and exciting at E3, so I have little doubt that PS2 will get a lot of good, positive coverage.
I do think that having beta running during E3 would make it a better showing though. But it would only make sense if beta was ready to go, so it will all depend on the devs timeline.
Already have a stickied beta thread and a few discussions on E3. I don't think we need more.
