View Full Version : The very 1st day...

I wonder...
What will it be like when the first of the first get in the game, and start moving out into the unknown, furtively looking around for the first sight, or first sound, of enemy contact... Who will get the very first kill? Who will be the first martyr?
What will the very first battle be like... skirmishers making a rukus, causing more and more troops to pour in from everywhere... Soldiers learning to use their weapons in a "trial by fire" atmosphere... Early attempts at target recognition, rampant friendly fire? Developing tactics in its infancy, propagation of PS1 habits, some working, some... a rude awakening...
I forsee the obvious... we are going to be awestruck when we see "massive planetside scale", translate into... massive planetside 2 scale...
Cheers, to the empires 3. :D :vsrocks::ncrocks::trrocks:

90% of the players will not even download the client by the end of day 1. Unless DVDs are being mailed out instead...
Either way, I have my plan set in mind: Grab a Pulsar and a Lightning, start up Raging Primates with all the other old members that get in (if outfit systems are functional when closed beta begins), and then we kill stuff.

I was just thinking about this a few days ago i wonder how long into playing the beta untill you find a enemy how big the maps are and how few players it will be at first

Wondering how the maps will start. Will each empire own 1 continent? Will all 3 own equal portions of each? Or will everything be neutral and it will be a race to spread out and grab as much territory as possible before the real fighting begins?
That one noob

Step 1:Rig trees with explosives (mines, boomers, etc.)
Step 2:Bait armor into driving near tree.

Hopefully everything neutral, It would be interesting to see how everyone decides to spread.

This, except replace "Full map tour" with "Crash into and try to land on every surface I can find to test for bugs" and "... Then its killing time" to "... Repeatedly"
I'm sure I wont be able to help myself and I'll frequently do some actual playing and killing, but I plan to spend as much time as possible finding exploits for vehicles, boomers/c4, pulling equipment and modifications, etc.
I'll probably have that whole "awestruck at the scale" thing for a while too. I just want to see it all, try it all, and then see if I can pull it apart so that we can have an awesome and balanced game when PS2 officially launches.

Learn the layout of every cappable installation in tha game... then troll around in a stealth suit, shiving and hacking! In my mind I'm BR25 by then end of the first hour... honestly though, I will try to learn the layout of installations, but apart from that I'll just play the game..

Lol... I can picture the fist couple of hours being filled with a lot of buggy tracks and sore necks, as people hop onto the starter vehicles and just admire the awesomeness... Then, someone will pass by an enemy and they'll get off their buggy and shoot that enemy. The war will commence.

Grab my reaver and proceed to fly deep into enemy territory, find 1 lone infantry guy and kamikaze at full boost into him.
Then proceed to link up with my buddies and start as big of a fight as possible.
Dedicate at least 1 hour for pure sightseeing.
Try out everything.
See how many boomers I can fit on a reaver before I bail said reaver onto someones head for massive explosion.
Really get a feel for the dogfighting.
Scoop up the remains of my brains after it has exploded out my ears.
Throw money at screen until PS2 goes gold and I haz it forevers.
Discover EVERYTHING!!

Lol... This made me think that hey should sell a gun on the market place for 1,000 SC ($10) that fires off streamers and confetti and gives you a rotating panning scene with the words "You Win!" written across the screen each time you pull the trigger. Call it "The Pay2Win". I think many people would love it and it would keep those people out of everyone else's hair. :)

Well we'll see a massive boom in player numbers resulting in a huge number of servers being established and those servers having queues of a few hundred people.
Then a few months later SOE will need to look at merging servers due to the distribution of short-term players.

Regardless of how content is laid out in a game, mainstream players will always eventually become bored and start playing the next "top" game.
Planetside 2 servers are supposedly unable to handle more than 6,000 players, and thus there will be a distribution of mainstream players across servers. Once those mainstream gamers have decided to take a break from Planetside 2 and move on to the next blockbuster title we'll probably be left with half-empty servers, and in some cases servers with far less population resulting in the need for some servers to be merged to sustain the activity.

First I'm gonna hop into an infiltration suit, get in my Mossie, and go racing around the continents. When I've soaked in the scale and beauty of the world, it's time to hotdrop and start hacking.
I find it very hard to resist grabbing a sniper rifle and picking off all the folks that will be wandering around taking screenshots and checking out the new bases, though...

First - sorry, I didn't read this thread yet. I had to post this while I was thinking of it, and sorry if I'm repeating anybody's idea.
Okay, in Planetside, there were merits that recognized players with "Activity Merits" and "Exclusive Merits." In Planetside 2, how about a merit (or the PS2 equivalent) for the first kill, the first death, first facility capture, first dogfight victory, and so on? Some merits, like the first facility capture one, would be a badge of honor that only a very small number of players would get. And some like first kill, would only belong to one player (on each server). Even first death, which is not really something to be terribly proud of, would be awesome to have some recognition of it. Something like, "Hey, I might suck, but I suck the most!"
K, now I'm going to read the rest of this thread. Thanks for reading :)

Hour 1, we will have a temporary cease-fire and just go all over Auraxis to get ourselves acquainted. Then the cease-fire will end and the entire continent will be covered in hotspots.
